This morning I was unfortunate enough to witness a blatent display of hate here at thoughts.com. Those involved woulod disagree. This post targeted Muslims. Now, I am sure that the originator of this post didn't mean for it to be a hate post but, that is what it ended up as. No one should accept racial or religious intolerence...EVER. And I, as a human being, could not accept it either. I tried to put my 2 cents in and was attacked. I was called a sheep and all but called stupid. I DO NOT ACCEPT INTOLERENCE...PERIOD. And will not apologize for that. Now as I understand it, there is some whining going on about our lack of freedom of speech. I go back to what my mother always said...
If you can't say something nice, don't say anything.
What is acceptable in our forums? How about posts about white guys over the age of 45? What if I put up a post that said "All white guys over the age of 45 are racist and closed minded." I imagine I would get negative feedback. I don't believe that, however, as I don't believe all Muslims are violent or all blacks smoke menthol cigarettes. (An actual claim made by one of the posters.) When you post incendiary comments or thoughts, be fully prepared to piss people off. Be fully prepared for people to call it hate. That is what it is. When you judge an entire group by the actions of a few, in my eyes, that is racist. Intolerence. Whatever you want to call it...
