Helmets
On my way to work today, I saw a man riding a Moped with a helmet. So later I asked my Mom (My parents ride their Harley...ALL THE TIME) if she would wear a helmet on a moped. She said no, so I asked her if the law was different in Michigan and you didn't have to wear them on bikes would she? She said depends on where they were. (On the highway yes, back roads, no.) So I told her that I would wear a helmet always even if the law didn't make me.
Question: If you could choose to wear/not wear a helmet on a bike/moped, would you or not?

I would - I know someone with a head injury from soccer - it has really made their life difficult. They suffer with severe depression that is a result of the concussion - so, I'd not just be afraid of dieing from injury but of everything else that might go wrong. Def. wear a helmet.

I personally don't think it'a anyones business but the individual making the decision, especially not gov't or some sleazball group like insurance companies who really are only concerned about their profits. Like eveything in life and in a democracy there is a cost for everything, especially giving up your rights and freedoms, including freedom of choice and freedom to take risks, whether for profit, protecting freedom or for adventure. We have become a society of phonies, liers, cheats, and cowards and lets not forget the selfrighteous hypocrites who are so insecure they have to interfer with eveyone elses lives under the pretext they are "do gooders". This country has been what it was, not anymore, because people valued their rights and freedoms, respected others and were willing to fight and die for those ideals. That's why we kicked every dictator's and commie ass in the past, doubt if we have what it takes today to be able to do that again. SHEEP to slaughter.

I would, because a kid from my school was riding his bike home amd he was waiting to cross the street and a truck hit the cross walk thing. It hit him on the head and he survived because of his helmet.

Dear JenLyn,
I have riden bikes most of my life and I prefer to ride with a helmet.
Occasionally I do go down to my sons house in Ohio and we ride together without helmets, but I don't care for the sand that hits my face from the road, and I most certainly hate the bugs hitting me in the face.
So 99.99% of the time I will have my helmet on.
My son almost never wears a helmet and one of these days he's going to find out why that is a bad idea.
Love & Peace,
John

I feel your mom wouldn't be caught dead on a moped, so her opinion is biased (no offense). But statistics show you're more likely to get a fatal head injury on a bicycle or moped than a motorcycle. Turns out that except in extreme circumstances, speed is less important than the height from which you fall. Your head rides higher on most bikes and mopeds than on a scooter or motorcycle. I always wear - my brain is bitchin', and I take care of it.
