Hello - am now back from my holiday. I went to the New Forest in the UK, and it was really nice - the weather was very, very hot.
It went ok - but there was only one 'supermarket' where we went - and it wasnt one of the 'main' ones, meaning they didnt have much food to keep my stomach happy, more food to keep my eyes and taste buds happy.
I went for a bike ride through the forest on Monday, which went well ... until I ended up face first in a ditch full of stinging nettles!!! I had nettle stings all up my arms and legs, a very swollen and bruised knee, the other knee is also extremely painful, and my ankle is very painful. My ankle and knee actually got caught up in the bike and I had to be untangled from the bike while still on the ground. oooops. I still managed to ride about ten miles though.
I also went on an eight mile walk through the forest and it was lovely - the ponies roaming free, we even saw some deers running around. It was funny watching the ponies standing right in the middle of the road and cars having to go round them, as the ponies have the right of way.
Anyway, the bit that ive been putting off ... what i actually ate there ...
On the way, we stopped at roadside services, where i had 2 hash browns - i was good and didnt have bacon or sausages etc. I did have a couple of biscuits also for breakfast but these were farleys rusks. Ok, i know these are meant for babies, but they are low in fat, and are very low in sugar and more or less what my stomach likes. I had a cheese and onion pasty for lunch, with a ginger ice cream for pudd after lunch. I know I didnt have to have the ice cream, but i went for the what i thought was the bestest one for me - ginger - with ginger pieces in it - my it was hot! but nice. For dinner that day i had quiche, with jacket potato with butter and beans. followed by a piece of toffee cake. I also had a date and walnut slice for pudding after lunch. I know, Im ashamed of myself for that.
The next day i had the rusks for breakfast again - after a funny stomach, sarnies for lunch, banana and flapjack for lunch, and for dinner had pie and potatoes, with a giant (and i mean giant) fondant fancy for pudding. Now let me explain about the fondant fancy. We found a cake shop there, which sold the most lovely cakes. I have a photo of the fondant fancy they sold, compared to the normal sized fondant fancies - photo will be on here somewhere.
On the monday I had rusks for breakfast, and for lunch had sarnies and prawn cocktail crisps, for dinner i had a battered sausage and chips from the chippie which were lovely.. and two slices of fruit cake.
Tuesday I had porridge with 2 slices of toast with chocolate spread on, sarnies, a few cherry tomatoes and flapjack. For dinner i had cold meat and beetroot, with a yoghurt for pudd.
Wednesday I had porridge for breakfast, followed by a flapjack - but that was so i could take an antihistimine for the nettle rash I had - thats also why i had the flapjacks the previous days. I had sarnies and crisps for lunch, with a banana, and for dins i had a cornish pastie, chips, and beans, followed by carrot and walnut cake.
Thursday I had cocoa pops with bran flakes underneath with goats milk, sarnies and crisps for lunch (i'm addicted again!), some cherry tomatoes, and a banana. for lunch i had turkey escalopes, potatoes and beans with toffee cake for pudd. I also brought some coffee beans and nuts which I had a few of.
Friday I had cocoa pops and bran flakes for breakkie, with a cheese and onion pasty, crisps, and a date and walnut slice for pudd. I had chips and cheese and onion pasty for dinner.
All foods I love, but are not necessarily good for me. I did try, but as I mentioned, the shops werent that good for the food that i can really eat.
I did buy me some other foods back - like flapjacks - i LOVE flapjacks, some biscuits, some more biscuits, and the coffee bean thing, and some marmalades and honey with ginger in.
I also walked every day out and about so that was quite good also.
I thought I would have put on a lot of weight after my indulgences on holiday, and when I got back today i weighed myself. Before I left i weighed 12.4. I now weigh 12.5. I only put on one pound, which I am really surprised and pleased about.
I am doing an 11 mile walk for charity tomorrow, so hopefully my knees and ankle will hold out for me, and will lose a bit more weight that way.
I have also decided to, when im back at work, to go to the gym twice a week, go for a walk twice a week, and then try to write some more of my five books that im trying to write or competitions that i do on the other day.
I have also been shopping and got lots of my stomach friendly foods again, so hopefully that will help too.
I was told that I was a lot nicer when I was on holiday - away from everything here thats stressing me out. I will try and stay that way - calm and not let things get to me so much. fingers crossed.
