 Musical irregularities
Another issue I find rather fascinating is 'podcasting'. Did you know for example that unless you own the copyright and publishing rights to any particular song, piece of music etc...then it is deemed illegal for you to reproduce, copy, publicly broadcast in part or whole [any] composition owned by another! These practices are rife on blogs and podcast host sites.

The fact of the matter is copyright infringement! I, myself would be most put out if one day I discovered that one of [my] compositions was copied and posted on a obscure blog or podcast site, after all I own the copyright, automatically infact! But how would I know or find out? ........Just a small fish in a sea of sharks!

Is it me then....or is this fact being conveniently overlooked by people on this very sight and their administrators? Copyrights are real and NOT imaginary, they are there to protect the artiste and the ownership of their creation.

There was a news story a year or so ago here in the uk......a father of a young girl (teenager) received a letter in the post one morning infroming him that through his 'IP' address it was discovered that his daughter had been involved in illegal file sharing, he was fined £2000, his daughter said that she wasn't aware she was doing anything illegal? YEAH RIGHTEOO!! pull the other one it's got bells on it. And yes, I know this involved a corporate music company but the law is the same non-the-less.

The next time you take one of your CD's out of it's case ..study the small circular writing going round the outside and read it, then put yourself in the same position (mentally speaking) and consider that if you were an artist of any kind producing original material, then what would you do if suddenly one of your precious works had been usurped by another for their personal gain, financial or otherwise? Did they approach you for permission to do this? NO!! they did the very same thing that podcastors do and that is to abuse the copyright and infringe upon anothers rights.

Think about it.......copyright is a matter of fact.

Ooooooo......this'll upset a few people?

hahahahahaahahahaaa... that is a good one... havnt heard that one before.. hehehehee :D

I totally agree with you.... unfortunelty here in jordan everything is pirated... movies, songs, softwares...etc... nobody is keeping tabs on things... and its normal to find sooooooo many stores out there with bootleged cds or dvds being sold by the hundreds everyday...

nowadays.. there are stored that started selling original copies, but they are overpriced... so people still keep byuing the pirated copies... MOST of the ones i have seen buying the originals.. are the ones with some cash to spend... teenagers with too much money ... people who immigrated lately into jordan adn have lots of money... and/ rich jordanians.. and they (not all , but most.. almost 80%) come into these expensive stores.. with their kids or alone .. and they start speaking english with each other... so they can be 'cool' ... speaking english with their kids.... so suddenly I feel i am in a different country all together.... if it werent for the 'please notice me' attitudes that fill the place...which brings you back to reality... OH i am in jordan!
:)

and i am sure many people will not like this comment either.. :D

but its what we see out there everyday....

Ay!! who'a you think you say I'da ignore?

Piracy is rife one way or another! the curious thing is where it begins? does it begin on 'street level' or higher? and being most companies in Jordan or whatever use pirate software then it begs the question who is the source? who is supplying them?

all i know is... if you go downtown to the poorest market areas... you can find them there... you can buy fully functioning operating systems for like 1 JD or .... its insane.... big huge programs for teh same thing which are usually sold for thousands.. like engineering software and such....

dont know who supplies them...but they are buying them from outside jordan that is for sure....

Well if it is so common place where you are then logically it can mean only one thing.

For something to be that organized and rife...it must be coming from high up politically speaking? hmmmmm..

Oh........1 JD?....that's me!! ya hay!!
