| Merry Christmas from Chile

We arrived in Lima at 5pm and had to entertain ourselves till our next flight at 1:30am.
We ate a lot and visited all the shops in the airport. Quite riveting really.
Our plane from Lima left at 3am and we flew into Santaigo at 8. We were so tired from our flight that once we got home we slept until 5, had dinner and then slept until the next morning.
We were very excited that we were allowed to go to the huge supermarket, Lider, on our own. It´s ridiculously huge and it´s there that we first missed Australia because in Australia we would know what was in each aisle but here we had to leave after a few minutes because we were sick of not knowing where anything was.
Liam and I were invited to a family gathering (of all the Dastres) and Liam danced the traditional Chilean dance (la cueca) even after protesting to the lady ´No se!´(´I don´t know!) over and over again. Everyone was impressed, including myself.
Liam hasn´t been feeling very well and like all family members with good intentions, everyone´s been suggesting different drugs and methods that´ll make him feel instantly better bu t he´s still feeling very unwell. Hopefully he´ll be better by Christmas eve (Chileans celebrate Chistmas on the 24th) so that he can eat and be merry without worrying about his belly.
We´ve just finished having dinner at my auntie´s and we´ll then head off to have supper at my grandmama´s.
We feel that time is running out and that we won´t be able to spend time wth eveyone. In hindsight, we should have extended our time in Chile.
We´re looking forward to going out with a few of my cousins and dancing the night away.
I hope you all have a great Christmas and that Santa brings you what you asked for.
Merry Christmas! |

How neat! I hope Liam feels better soon.
My wife of 16 yrs. is from Concepcion, Chile. Her mother died 3 yrs. ago. She was living in Santiago then.
I've never talked w/anyone, living in Australia. Or from just about any foreign country.
My wife has told me all about Chilean dances. Cuecas sound like lots of fun.
Have a good time in Chile and Seasons Greetings.

Happy New Year guys, great that you are having such a wonderful time and Liam has found his second language. We saw in the new year at the Dastres household and as usual had a beautiful meal and lots of drink and as usual there were one or two amongst us who overindulged! We are all enjoying some relaxation and warm weather. Keep up the good times. Take care, The Farrell Family.
