I wanna publish a book, too! I have the book finished & copyrighted but that's all. From what I've been told, the best thing to do is to find an agent. Now here's where it gets contradictory. Some will tell you that they don't want any money up front, they will get their money if & when you get a deal. Then there are some who have said that it's ridiculous not to charge a fee up front because how else would they make money? I don't know.

However, I have yet to forward my book to anyone, but am going to start over the weekend. I found a website called Writers Net. They have a listing of agents by location, but also by genre.

I write vampire fiction. I see your book is horror. What's it about anyway?

Get a hold of the Writer's Market 2009. Your local library might have it. If not, buy one off Amazon.com. It is a very thick book that's loaded with thousands of publishing markets, editor's names and addresses, BP agents, plus tons of information about how to prepare cover letters and manuscripts, and many "dos and don'ts" of writing. Do not depend on an old Writer's Market, even if it's 2008. The information goes stale very quickly (agent and publishing contacts and info). Stay current and informed. Good luck.
