 Madeline Albright's Pins
According to Madeline Albright,  Secretary of State to President Clinton, the world knew her mood from her jewelry. More polite than throwing one's shoes, perhaps, but a little scary to think World War III could have started by someone misunderstanding her intent when she wore the 3 monkeys -See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil.
On the other hand, what do we have now? Is someone telling Iranian negotiators what we really intend to do about their pursuit of atom bombs and the missiles to launch them, or are we winking and nudging?
We tried ignoring Hitler and hoping he would go away, or at least, be satisfied with Poland-and the whole world saw how well that worked out for us.
Read Winston Churchill's book, The Gathering Storm". I took it out of the library and read it when George Bush the First was launching us into a war in the Middle East without understanding one word of the language or the people. It's two decades later and we still have soldiers on the ground, fighting and dying everyday. Do we have anyone in charge who does speak Arabic or who knows that you must never display the sole of your foot to an Arab?
When will we learn.
"Where have all the flowers gone?"
"The answer is blowing in the wind."
