| Journal Entry #4: I'm too tired... |
October 15, 2009
Dear Journal:
I just finished the draft of my concept paper to turn into my ENG 111 class today. My topic was the history and influnce of pulp fiction and pulp magazines, and the growth of certain genres due to this market. On the whole, I am impressed with the results.
I just bought another book on Tuesday. A friend gave me a book on Sunday, a book I had borrowed from him before. It is a collection of stories written by the great E. Hoffman Price, of the pulp days. I had wanted to borrow it for research for my paper, and now that I have it, I am glad I gave it a second chance.
The work of so many writers has been given prominece due to these magazines. Stephen king is one modern one somewhat affect. Other notables include Ray Bradbury, Zane Grey, Poul Anderson (the spelling of his name is correct), Louis L'Amour, and in a way, Hemingway (with the stories published in Field & Stream). i can't believe the wealth of information I found on this!
Sincerely, James
Peace!!!!!!!!!!
