Yesterday my DH successfully defended his research-dissertation, titled "Sunshine or Twillight?..." Of course I attended his defense, and provided refreshments for the defense committee members. Of course anticapation was building, and DH was a lil anxious I focused alot of my energies to help him to stay focus and calm with music, herbal teas and finding an ’inner smile’. His advisor favorite saying is, "it how you walk thru the fire", where as, I changed to "It’s about how you dance thru the fire with panache!". So in the time before the defense after the refreshment table was set. I settled into crocheting my lovely bamboo yarn into the chermise cami, which helped calm DH, a lil something I noticed since 9/11, helps calms people around me (aka spatial comfort crocheting or more specifically, ’calming social referenceing’ ). Even Dr. B, entered, noticed and relaxed too.

I was already familliar with the committee members, Dr. E., & Dr. M. and was warmly welcomed. IDH did so well, in presenting, and handle the defense disccusions quite well.

Then we were asked to leave the room, while the committee members discussed DH possibilites toward his Doctorate to be conferred.

Standing outside the closed conference room hallway, briefly, DH and I exhanged softly spoken words of encouragements, and I reassured him. I hugged him, wish him well, and then Dr. B came out to bring DH back inside the conference room. I went outside Stone bldg to catch some fresh air and a lil sunshine, readying myself for what may happen next.

I went inside, and DH told me the great news, Dr. B said, "Congratulations, Dr. T. L." then all the other Doctors present came up to him, congratulated him & shake his hand.

After all the happy stress excitement subsided, we tended to a few duties. We made our way home, poor Truffle had been in his den/kennel for about 6 hours plus, so we had one happy pup greeting us when arrived at home. We decided to celebrate modestly with a nice special dinner at home artichoke mesclun salad, & key club steak.

Of course we called his parents, & text msg everyone the good news along with Graduation & hooding to happen early Aug 2008.

I love that saying! Congrats to DH on his big day. I don't knit, but hello anyway!
