WARNING: THE PICS IN THIS BLOG MAY BE DISTURBING TO SOME. ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO VIEW IT?
Its easy to forget that as a nation the United States Military is spread out on two battle fronts. We are most active in Afghanistan but still deployed in Iraq as well.
Our nations President had hinted that by now while running for office he would have us out of the Gulf.
Maybe, just maybe, there is a reason why we need to be there.
Maybe it is as simple as oil. Maybe its regional stability in our favor. Maybe its something so far beyond what we could even guess at.
Regardless we are still there. What our soldiers and the people that live there go through is nothing short of Hell on Earth at times.

The question I ask though is if in the end it will make any difference since we will have to leave eventually? History of that region would suggest that it will not. The Jewish people could not conquer that land in the pre New Testament days. Greece failed to be able to defeat them. Rome couldn't hold it either. The Crusaders were ousted. Nazi Germany failed as well. Russia couldn't make a difference. Why should we think we will change the way of life in a land where they cling to their ways stronger than many of us cling to the things we say we can not live without?
We can take out today's leaders but there will always be those ready to step in and take there place when opportunity knocks.

I have two friends serving in the sand box that used to work with me. My three Brothers are Veterans as was my Father.
While I openly question what good the war will ultimate bring and as always I welcome any and all comments on this blog I warn you that anyone bashing our soldiers will find themselves in my cross-hairs for a long while.
November 11th is Veterans Day here in the States. If you happen to know a Veteran or bump into one please thank him or her for their service. It will mean a lot even if they shrug it off. If not please think of them or pray for them if that's your thing.
We have many Veterans on Thoughts.com as well. One that I have had the privilege to interact with is GoodHeart.
Thank you GoodHeart for doing what you have done and what you still do.
As always I hope peace finds you all.
