| Close Your Eyes |
Do any of us remember that dream? The dream that captured us all into believing that one day we could be someone special. This dream has been lost. Lost in the shuffle of everyday life and strife. The concept that all are created equal was a slimy document, that made pompous men heartfelt. This document manifested at a time where the only ones who were actually equal, were white slave owners. Our country, from the beginning, has been built upon layers of deception. Lies that were received with ignorant contempt. American ancestors devoured them with glee, breathed in their pungent flavor, and soaked theirselves in the falsehood filth.
How does one begin to understand their true worth in this kind of society? Perhaps with the essence of belief? A belief that turns into hope. A hope that collides with dissapointment. We can paint a pretty picture; but it does not make us whole.
Is that what our fore-fathers did for us? Painted a Sistine Chapel, and we purchased it as an endurance of our humanity? "All are equal" is what is preached. Unless of course you are of a different religion, race, or social class. This still stands today. Everywhere I turn, I can see the effects of that mentality.
How can we be so far advanced, yet be so archaic in our thinking? We elect inept officials, we become the laughing stock of the WORLD; and yet, we still sit and hope that life will work itself out. Of course it will, just sit back and relax. The music is soothing and the the water cool.
Are you (yes you!) completely comfortable in your ignorance? I mourn, becuase some truely are. Big business has taken over, and everything is fine. Our president allows his people to suffer, and everything is fine. I look into the blank faces of millions, and I see...everything is fine. So, my lovely Americans, my fellow humans, just relax. It will all be fine. When the bombs destroy our beautiful babies, when the sun becomes unbearable, and when our land is uninhabitable; it will all be fine. Just sit back and close your eyes.
