She has been depressed her whole life. The only time she was happy was when she cared for her goats as a youngster on the farm. Her mother seemed to be a mad woman. Now that her mother has passed on she struggles with life to improve herself and make a better lot in life for herself. She's been out of a "real job" for 7 yrs. She's in college to rehabilitate her occupation. She's struggled to have money to do her projects. Even though she's done a great job her instructor in one class isn't satisfied and put her down in front of the class. It's the straw that broke the camel's back.
Today she called her son and asked him to call her mental health therapist to see what should be done since she is having suicidal thoughts of hopelessness. The therapist said to take her to the E.R. So, off he went with her to the E.R.
So, now goes that situation that his sister has come along and made a mountain out of a mole hill and is saying that he has been a jerk to his mother and doesn't care about her. Treating him as if he's the one who has been bad and treating her badly. His sister has pushed him out of the picture and is giving him grief.
Apparently mother talked to the daughter and told her that he was being a jerk and acting all put out over the situation. He dropped everything, he was at work, and sped to her side to help her. Does that sound like someone who doesn't care? His sister took the word of their mother who is in as serious mental state over his word of the situation.
So, as things are now, mother is still in hospital being evaluated while her daughter sits holding her hand blaming him for everything.
I believe, in my humble opinion, that this woman needs some very serious mental treatment and her children need to just be there for her and be supportive instead of the daughter & mother black balling the son. The daughter is convinced mother needs to be moved to a different hospital for treatment. The daughter has only witnessed everything as an aftermath.
My prayer is that the mother gets treatment and her children will get over themselves and see her needs before theirs. Also that the mother would see that there is hope and move on past all this drama.
So, please pray for this family. Because it's my husband and his mother & sister I've been talking about. It's all very scarey.

Dear Inserthere, I will pray for you. I agree that mum needs mental health treatment first. Next, it came to my mind that the family needs 'family systems therapy' as a unit. I don't know how you feel about therapy but I'm a Christian and have had it (individually) and it is making me a more stronger Christian and more rational! Irrationality, I think, comes through emotional disturbance and without an ordered response contributes to depression. Cognitive behavioural therapy does bring an ordered balanced response to emotional disturbance and works effectively to put big troublesome emotions in place under control of the mind (my depression and anxiety is gradually lifting). I do pray for God to work through the therapy and He, I believe, does.
Personally, I think that 'the world' in a biblical sense and where linked to society today, and it might be at a depth not very noticeable, does a lot to push people to the limits, and past the limits, of their being able to cope with life as it is. And these people carry the burden, cross like. I pray: LORD Jesus Christ please ease the burden of everyone involved, bring good out of the suffering, especially the suffering of 'mother', destress hubby and bring harmony to this family, please LORD ... God Bless You in the name of the Father, The Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
P.S. Does she has an animal to give affection to and relate to? This could help her if she did. Keeps her mind away from troublesome thoughts as much as possible/gives a different focus and as you suggested, she was happy caring for an animal before.
