View Blog    Jibber-Jabber What do you do? You get in line at the customer service desk at the store to make a special purchase that you aren't able to purchase through the regular checkout and there this person stands by you just jibber-jabbering away. You're minding your own business not interfering at all. When it happens.... the person looks at you and starts to jibber-jabber to you. It happened to me today. This woman was figeting with her belongings standing in the line. I quickly just pretended I understand her and made a couple of statements that seems to satisfy her. My first thought was, it's almost her turn at the counter, she'll be gone in a minute. Then all of a sudden this woman who was already at the counter started talking to the jibber-jabberer distracting her from me. Then it was her turn to make her purchase. She fussed with her debit card and seemed to me to be a bit disoriented. She finally packed her stuff up. But while she was still figeting with her personal belongings before I ever stepped to the counter the customer service worker asked if she could get me started. I never moved from my spot... I looked at her and told her I needed a money order and gave her the amount and finally, the jibber-jabberer left and I stepped up with debit card in hand and swiped it and got my money order. In less than five minutes. I started for the door and there she was...... standing by the checkout lines figeting some more and jibber-jabbering. I kept on walking and went out the door past her and kept walking till I got to my car. It was just fun to encounter this person but my fear was -- all of a sudden I was going to have to get involved in something more that I knew wasn't going to be pleasant. Praise the Lord and thank HIM for His great sense of humor! That was a really good story. lol. A long time ago, I had a friend from Vietnam. I visited his family once in Sacramento, CA. He didn't speak very good English, but we had one really good joke between us, "I like to jibber-jabber." I had just learned Shiyin karate. We used to spar a good amount too.
