“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and success of freedom.”
John F. Kennedy, 1961
I ran across the above statement by a great American President and it made me wonder who John F. Kennedy would vote for in the upcoming election. Which candidate most represents his commitment as stated above? I remember the Cuban Missile Crisis and thought to myself that Kennedy wasn’t just a great orator, but also a noble Commander and Chief. I wonder, “Where have all the good men gone?”
We are facing one of the most critical presidential elections of our time. I seriously hope we consider and truly weigh the real cost and true price before casting the deciding vote. In my 54 years, I have been a registered Democrat, Independent, and Republican. With each move I endeavored to “get it right.” I must tell you that each of these parties had things that appealed to me and each left me wanting for more.
I believe that both Kennedy (great Democrat) and Regan (great Republican) were true red blooded Americans wanting the best for our country. I believe they put their patriotism ahead of their parties. I don’t know your political persuasion, but I know this, I am concerned for our country. I am concerned for my children and grand children. I am concerned for “my fellow Americans.” I am concerned about the cause of freedom across the world. Regardless of your candidate of choice right now, please make a commitment to pray with an open mind and ask God to guide your decision.
Our country has indeed changed since J.F.K. spoke the words above. It's time to turn back to those words. It's time for a real change. If you believe in the America Kennedy talked about above, ask yourself which canidate best represents his sentiments and is willing to pay whatever price is required to herald "freedom for all." Pray hard and vote clear.
