Tissue?
I started blogging to purge and vent and it helped. I marked the really personal stuff as private and moved on. I have emailed a couple of bloggers to let them know that something they've written has touched me in some way.  Lovely people have commented on things that I've written but for the most part I keep my comments to myself. I lurk and read certain blogs for one reason or another. There are a couple that I read for what I call the "train wreck" factor. They are blogs that I really wish I could STOP reading but I just can't. They are these tastey bits of soap opera-esque fluff that suck me in like a California car chase. Don't get me wrong I can go back and read my first blogs with hands over my eyes at the angsty pain filled "waaaaah" fest I had happening and shudder, but they are what they are and so they can stay.  There are blog that make me roll my eyes and make that puking noise because of the obvious attention whoring. There are blogs that I read to follow the story that the person is telling me.

I have noticed with my own blogging that as time has passed and my angsty-ness has chilled that I sometimes have nothing to say and will drift away for a few days. Part of me thinks that is pretty natural for most bloggers. It seems to me that a lot of us start blogging so that we have some where to say the things that we can't say out loud.  When that need is fullfilled then we are able to move on.....sort of.  When I say that ,I mean if you are like me you are somewhat addicted to other peoples blogs and will come back to read.  Which is cathartic in and of it's self if for no other reason than as messed up as I am...............some of you have me beat hands down. A lot of you give me hope, you make me laugh, some of you make me cry and some of you make me want to throw things.........at  your heads. In the end I'm glad that your here. Just thought you should know.

I agree. I only really write in my blog when I need to get stuff out of my head. And it actually amazes me how complete strangers will be so supportive. It's nice.

I like this post - a kind of reflection on blogging. Why do we do it? The media seems to want us all to believe that everyone is blogging trying to find their 15 minutes of fame. At various times I have kept diaries to write my thoughts down in - its very helpful when friends are not on hand to discuss things with. But, the problem with putting things on paper is that other people don't necessarily respect your privacy and will start reading what you wrote for your eyes only. When I get online I don't use my real name and I don't use anyone else's real name - the reason I write online is for privacy. I know that sounds crazy... but really, if everyone is talking at once to no one in particular about nothing in particular what's the chance that anyone is taking an interest in your mind vomit? Not much I figure.

I like this blog. I can't really put my finger on why but something about it has a feeling that draws me in to read more. I also blog to vent. Sometimes I feel like I'm putting my personal life too much out there on an open slate for everyone to see, but who knows. Maybe by doing that we can really connect to people with the same issues.

Hey! I am new to blogging - my reason to begin this new venture is none other than what you've highlighted here - express unspoken words. Many bloggers here do not have people who'd willingly listen to them or have time to attentively talk to them. Others have numerous people around them but none whom they can say what their hearts are bursting out to tell. In either case, they feel lonely in a crowd. Blogs, just like true friends who are hard to find, allow you to be yourself and out down all you want to say and won't hurt you. You don't have to pretend or try to please anyone.
