| My Best Friend's Wedding! |
Despite work, homework, home projects and other things that are necessary to do at home, I was to be the best man for my best friend's wedding (Get the title :-). We both were in High School in North Carolina at Athens Drive, and then we both went to East Carolina University. He was my roomate for four out of the 5 years, if you don't count the study abroad stint for me & his study abroad stint as well. After school I ran up to the Northeast & he went to San Francisco Bay Area. Even with the distance we still made it a point to keep in contact and babble on & on on the phone about what's going on in life. I honestly believe over time, that you won't find deep friendships or connections as you get older, so for me I wanted to keep him in my life. I had to go to San Francisco for a conference and ended up hanging out with him for the week, he showed me around. It's funny because even though he's still the same, there are differences from me living in the New York City Metro area/Connecticut (Louder, crazier a lil more confrontational, think before I speak etc0, and him living in the Bay. He does the whole Bikram Yoga/Coffee/Work with the Mayor (Who may soon turn into Governor.. watch out California!!!) So when it became time for both of us to get married we still knew we'd be each other Best Men.
His wife is great and perfect for him. Not only is she laid back, funny, nice-looking (I'm still alive!) and have similar interests as him, but she fits well with the rest of us. He had the wedding in the Lake Tahoe Area at a nice Hotel. It was like a destination wedding. They wrote their own vows and the ceremony took about 20 minutes. Which was different from mine, because we had a full service took about an hour or so. But the end was the same, we were both happy & there is something to be said about seeing a friend get married, with the smile on his face, the blushing and beautiful bride and just the THE WEDDING CAKE that makes it so much fun.
Not all of our friends were able to make it, but the ones who could, it was a great pleasure to see them again and let out a loud belly laugh with people who are just friends. So congratulations to them both, because the wedding was great, the reception was booming!! (Nice music and good food!) and the people were just enjoying themselves.
After the wedding Christine & I went to Reno to gamble a lil and to see the Chuck Close exhibit, one of her favorites. The next day we traveled almost the whole circumference of Lake Tahoe and took in the sites of one of the biggest Alpine Lake in North America (Or so they say.)
Now to get back home on a redeye to get to work, school, and more work at home.
