Trading A Freezing Day For An Ocean Memory
This bitter cold weather has me longing for the ocean. I am fortunate enough to have seen both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and there is nothing like it.

First of all, when you are getting near the ocean you can smell it....the salt water is in the air. It smells clean. It invigorates the senses. Then there is the breeze. The ocean breeze makes even the hottest days comfortable. It is like you have a personal fan following you.

Then when you see the ocean, you are blown away by the grandeur of it. It is so endless. Watching the waves come in can be mesmerizing, even when the waves are small, and you can't help but wonder about all the life that the ocean hides, sea creatures big and small.

The best, however, is watching the sun disappear into the ocean or rise out of it. It's like the sun is one of the creatures that the ocean hides, but is willing to share.

"It's like the sun is one of the creatures that the ocean hides, but is willing to share."

The above line is poetry to my soul and makes my heart sing ... absolutely beautifully stated.

Being around water (lake, mountain stream, ocean) ... listening to the sound of the surf or the rushing sound of a mountain stream calms my spirit and centers me. As a young person I saw the Atlantic Ocean on a family vacation to Maine. Have never seen the Pacific Ocean but it's on my "to do list" of things to see before I leave this earth along with The Redwood Trees, The Golden Gate Bridge, Hawaii and New York City. Much of my beach experience was on the Gulf of Mexico during my visits to Florida. I enjoyed searching for sea shells and being a witness to the beautiful sunsets. My last visit, many years ago, took me to a beach front hotel on Marco Island. It was wonderful falling asleep each night to the lullaby of the Gulf of Mexico.

Perfect post for a cold snowy day in Michigan. How wonderful to drift with you on this memory. Peace.
