Today I spit out the words. I told her I had something that I needed to say to her but I didn't want it to affect the relationship we have. She said it wouldn't.
"I'm in love with you." The rest of the conversation is kind of a blurr as we moved in and out of the subject as we often do. I think we both know that if we ever let the passion out of the bottle there could never be any turning back.
She said, "If the circumstances were different." She said, "I think it could have been really good." She said "We couldn't do that to mom."
I said, "I know....I know....I know."
Then she said, "You have to do what makes you happy." I said, "Somebody has to take care of your mom." She said, "Mom is capable of taking care of herself."
Twice more she said I need to do what makes me happy. Maybe I will. What makes me happy again? |

Being with N is so clearly what makes you happy. I think her repeating that was her confirming to you that she is thinking the same as you - the love is mutual but so is the concern for your wife. I good response I'd say, always best to get feelings out in the open and whatever happens next...good luck. x David x

The truth sets you free. Even though sharing your true feelings with N was difficult and risky it's good that everything is out in the open, as now you can work through the feelings together. While this situation is far from resolved, as there is much more to work out and the feelings of another to deeply consider at least a dialogue has begun. Even if it's decided that no action (on these feelings) will be taken at this time, peace of mind is found when all that needs to be said is said. Good luck to you and N as you move through the twists and turns that life has brought to your door.
