A Philosophical Rant
There was this kid I grew up with who moved away after high school graduation, found a job and got engaged to a girl. Then he suffered some kind of injury and ended up with amnesia. It blacked out the last couple years of his life. He no longer knew his financee. Instead he moved home, rekindled a romance with his high school sweetheart and married her.

I've heard that they now have a treatment for those who have suffered from traumatic experiences where they can target a specific area of the brain to make them forget the event so they can get on with their lives. I just wonder what else they lose in the process?

It all makes me wonder if the mind completely creates our worlds? Think about a coma patient. Is that person still living in his/her mind? What if I'm really in a coma and everything I think I know doesn't really exist? What if it is just a dream - a long, drawn-out dream - and the last reality I knew occurred 20 years ago? Given the power of the mind, I guess I wouldn't know.

But, if our minds really control everything then why wouldn't we all be living in our own paradises? Well, when we sleep we have nightmares don't we?

 That's enough thinking for tonight.

We'll do it all
Everything
On our own

We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Interesting post ... certainly food for thought. The Snow Patrol Song "Chasing Cars" is one of my favorites. I think I'll just relax, turn off my brain, and figure it all out tomorrow. Peace.

Rene Descartes: I doubt therefore i think therefore i am

perceptive reality has fascinated me for a long time but i have never really run across an example such as this..you have given me much to think about.

i agree with nutshell, you're talking like we live in the matrix, so be careful, the agents might get you :)

i love that song...yeah. thats not much but i try to avoid sinking deeper into my own head. if i start wondering if the thoughts of me and others control the world i will go insane. for now the retreat of my mind is mine alone to enjoy.
