I've been at the same job for 4&1/2 years, it its starting to frustrate me to no end! I'm the office chick for a courier company, and sometimes I feel like I'm doing the job of two people b'coz my boss is too stingy to put another person on.
He won't do it b'coz he says there isn't enough work, and it doesn't look good for one person to be sitting around doing nothing. Yet he will stand out in the depot, talking for (and I have timed it) 53 minutes about football, or what he wants do on the weekend, or this thing he heard on the radio that he doesn't agree with, or something totally unrelated to work. I know he's the boss but still!! He talks about these things to other staff members, pulling them away from their work and leaving me to do everyting!!! We have a two-way to communicate with the drivers, three phone lines and customers constantly walking in and I usually have to deal with all three at the same time. If I'm with a customer and the phones are ringing off the hook and three drivers are calling on the two-way, and he is standing outside talking shit with some random person, he will come inside to tell me to 'why didn't you get the phone? And the drivers are callilng you' and step outside again without helping. I'm only one fucking person!! I may be female and can do more than one thing at once but thats asking a bit much!
I will get the blame when things aren't done right, too. Someone else's laziness or stuff up and its my fault. I went on holidays a few weeks ago for three weeks and when I got back, I got the blame for things that weren't done right while I was away! Figure that out! I was 14 hours away, in another state and I still get the blame.
I just finished an accounting course at TAFE, b'coz he asked me do it andb'coz he said he would let more do more on the accounting side of the business. Three and half years of no social life and study study study and now he's like 'oh, I don't think your ready yet'. A couple grand wasted on tuition and text books all b'coz he is too stingy to give me a payrise.
Why do I put up with it??!!! That's my whinge, thanks for listening...

I know where you are coming from, I'm in my first job as a Sales Assistant but I work for House of Fraser which is a big company especially in the UK. Its like a giant department store full of customers who are bluntly up their own arse, demanding refunds for things they have done themselves and a boss who expects me to work hours more than I am meant to because she daren't ask the other staff as I am stupid enough to take it on (Despite doing 20 hours a week at college!) Grr work, but we all love a payday don't we hehe? x
