Wait, scrap that - a lot ouchies!! Last night, while while being vain, I was straighteneing my hair with a straightner. I usually I do this no problem, but last night I slipped up and managed to burn the crap outta my hand. And GOD DAMN it hurt.
Don't ask me how it happened coz I 'm not quite sure myself. One minute I was straightening away, the next my hand is burning and my straightner is broken on the floor. (Damn that too, now that I think about it...)
I quickly ran my hand under cold water to stop the stinge, but it wasn't doing it. I ran to the freezer to get an ice pack (the ones that go in an esky) and held onto that for dear life! It cooled my hand and I couldn't feel anything except the icy cold of the block.
My next problem was that I was about to go to bed. So I put the ice block back in the freezer and headed down the hallway. At my bedroom door, the burning sting came back and nearly made me cry, it that hurt much. So I weighed my options and decided to get the ice blok back out and sleep with it.
Now here's the fun part - trying to sleep with an ice block in my hand. Very difficult and uncomfortable. I didn't sleep a lot last night. Everytime I got comfortable and drifted off into dreamworld, I was jolted back to reality with the sting of my hand, when the ice melted and heated up. So I was constantly moving my hand, and drifted between the hot sting of the burn to icey sensation of my hand freezing! It was a rough night, needless to say.
This morning I woke to find the ice block completed thawed (well duh, really) and lying on the pillow next to me. My hand didn't sting and when I looked at it, there wasn't much there. A little mark across my thumb but thats about it. It feels really smooth though. Like I have burnt all my finger prints off. (Checked, and they are still there hehe) My thumb is bit tender to bend though. All up, I would have to say I was pretty lucky. And despite how uncomfortable it was, I was glad I took the ice block to bed.
