WHERE WE LEFT OFF:
Feeling confident that she was now going to the party, Kiera started planning her next move to get the story that many had tried and failed at – learning all there was to know about Mr. Trey Stockton.
Without failure, Trey Stockton’s party was definitely living up to its reputation and Kiera couldn’t wait to meet the host himself, but until he presented himself, she intended to enjoy herself. Kiera was quickly offered a drink and she wasted no time accepting, because she knew that in order to get the story she wanted, she had to be willing to do whatever it would take so being a little – okay, a lot – intoxicated couldn’t hurt.
As Kiera was moving around the room, she noticed someone she recognized. Kiera quickly tried to turn around before he recognized her, but it was too late. Ian Bancroft, the heir to the Bancroft media conglomerate had already spotted her. Kiera had met Ian while under cover investigating what many said was the mistreatment of illegal immigrants by Bancroft’s Property Management Company. Kiera had went after Bancroft Property Management and Ian Bancroft himself because she was out for blood, but at the end of her under cover investigation, not only was she found out but her story turned out to be nothing but cover ups, false leads and false documents so without anything to back up her story and what she knew to be the truth, she had to let it go. Even though she had let the story go, Ian Bancroft had demanded her head from her paper, but finally settled for an apology, which of course Kiera gave begrudgingly.
Ian quickly grabbed her by the arm and pulled her to one side – “so now Ms. Cole, since you couldn’t bring me down are you going after one of our cities other upstanding citizens or are you now one of us? Some how, Ms. Cole, I can’t see you being a part of our world – it seems so corrupt for your taste.”
Kiera quickly jerked her arm away and tried to get away from Ian Bancroft, but it was no use, he was still bitter and she wasn’t going to shake him as easy as she had hoped, so she turned to face him and tell him a piece of her mind, but just as she turned, the lights dimmed and suddenly everyone got quiet as Trey Stockton entered the room. He was more gorgeous in person than she could have imagined and she even had to admit that the glamour surrounding him was totally shocking to her, but for the moment she had to find some way to shake her new found friend or enemy, but he was proving he could hang in for the long haul. Kiera was becoming more and more frustrating with the constant presence of Mr. Bancroft. Kiera quickly tried to come up with a way to get rid of him, but…..
