| FELL BACKWARDS - WENT BOOM !

A Little Background:
[I am a diabetic and even though I diet, exercise and follow my doctor’s recommendations – my blood sugars run very high or very low and so far – (after 8 years of trying) my doctor’s have not been able to completely control them. Because of the diabetes I developed severe diabetic neuropathy about three years ago, which has affected both of my legs, and some of my organs. I take medication to control the severe pain, but the pain is never fully abolished. I also have problems with keeping my balance and other problems. While I’ve been through a lot I keep pushing on, even though these days it’s getting harder and harder, but all I can do is to keep trying.]
After falling last night / this morning, it was as if a light bulb went off in my head and I suddenly realized some very important life lessons.
1. Life doesn’t turn out the way you hope, dream or plan.
2. In life – be prepared to suffer a lot of pain just to survive.
3. Age has nothing to do with serious illnesses.
4. Because of my health – life will never be what I want it to be.
5. Even sick a person can go on, but only if they want to.
6. Enjoy life while you can, because the opportunity can be gone in a split second.
7. Don’t harbor hatred or ill will towards anyone – FORGIVE!
8. Love those closest to you with all the gusto you can muster.
9. Treat other people as you would like to be treated.
10. Don’t do something that makes you unhappy.
11. Follow your dreams early on, because that’s when you have the best chance to see them realized.
12. Don’t allow others to dictate how you live your life.
13. You can’t make others happy. The only person you can make happy is
YOU.
14. Be good to children – love them, protect them, teach them, laugh with them and learn from them, because they’ll teach you far more about life than you can ever teach them.
15. Believe in and serve God and He will be with you through everything you face.
The scariest thing I realized when I fell, which I probably already realized deep down, but didn’t really want to accept is – my life will probably never be too exciting ever again; I will always be afraid of falling and hurting myself, especially if I’m alone; my body can never be trusted 100%; most of the dreams will probably never come true and finally, I am afraid that I will not be able to spend many more years with my partner, who has blessed my life for many years. I also fear not seeing my nephews graduate high school, college or getting married or having kids. I don’t know why, but this has always been very important to me.
The one thing I can say about myself is, I’ve always tried to be good to others and love those closest to me and I think they all know that.
