OH yes they are!!! and they are listening and they are observing.
They see so much more than we even realise. They might be children and they might appear young, but they are sooo smart!
Great Post!

Yes you can see this in a two year old very much. They mimic everything you do.
I am bad for telling my kids I can scream all I want they are going to shut their mouths and listen cause I am the mother in this operation.
I have always been a screamer because I don't spank. I use to spank and started getting scared I was going to go too far. So now I have to be the loudest one in the room for anyone to listen.
I have made a house full of screamers. I wish I had been given some parenting skills. |

| When I used to scream at the kids when they were little because it was out of character, they'd laugh and I just couldn't help, but laugh! They'd imitate me and that's all they wrote! |

Hollis I am teaching parenting classes and I have learned so much from them.
My kids are older now and we have so many conversations about what works and what does not.
I have to say I wonder why it is not a requirement to take a parenting class before we ever leave the hospital with the little bundle of joys. We have the six week course in how to breathe during childbirth but what do we do with this precious cargo after we get them home.
I was a yeller, I don't know why I just was, I knew it wasn't working but I continued to do it. I look at life and wonder if there was ever one time I heard what someone was saying to me when they yelled at me, the answer is NO!!!!
When we are dealing with our children if we would just stick to our committments and not act on our feelings we would be so much better off.
The one thing I do know is that we all are the best parents we know how to be. |

| this is a great post hollis! i do not have children, but a few of my friends do. and when we all get together i always put the effort into my actions more than my words. i will not swear or use words that they should not hear, but i do things so they can follow me through behaviour, even when i am around other children i do this. it is important for all of us to realize how much actions mold children. :) great post! |

I was actually thinking about this today, a woman lives opposite me, and her hubbie and her 10 year old, i listen to the music blaring til the early hours, i see the 'people' coming and going at all hours, i spoke to her once, her front door was wide open, she stopped me and said, 'oh its terrable the smell of weed smoke in there i have to keep the door open while we are all smoking' and through the clouds of smoke walked her daughter... why is it that i can see how that poor girl will most likely turn out but her own mother couldnt give a damn? it makes me mad, i am moving soon, and i will be calling social services the day i leave, i have also seen her smash neighbours windows when they complain about the noise! i have also heard the girl crying to her mum that the music hurts her ears....i will stop now, but i whole heartidly agree with you on this topic honey, too many people couldnt give a damn how their behaviour influences their kids minds!
perfect post x |
