Hollis I feel your pain,I am also laughing.Sometimes you just want to pinch their little heads off.My son became a turd at the age of 4.I didn't think that boy would see his 5th birthday. He's on his way to 23.If he only knew how close he came, lol.

Oh Hollis...welcome to MY world! It will get better. Unless you live in my house that is! I love that little tiger. How cute! My Daughter sees a counslor for her OCD, and she has had some mouthy problems herself, not to mention my other two. So this therapist, has a professional way to handle this. It works! Get a bunch of index cards. Write chores on them. Depending on the age of the child, we were told 1/2 hour for each chore. My daughter is 10. when she sasses back to me, argues or breaks rules she is to pull a card, and must do that chore for that 1/2 hour. NO playing, No NOTHING until that chore is completed. If they gripe, they pull another card. If they stomp and cry, they pull ANOTHER card. She said her son at one point pulled 6 cards before he realized he better shut his mouth. He had 3 hours of chores. It didn't take that kid long to realize WHO was in charge. I have noticed it working around my house in a very short time as well. Try it. It's a child psychologist's discipline tactic. Instead of grounding, or reacting when they break rules or a nasty mouth, they already know what's to come. No surprises...they are making a choice when they already know the consequences.
Good Luck and God Bless!

I like keepdreaming's advice.I wish I would of thought of that.Do you think some of the older kids on the bus might be egging him on then your son retaliates and is the one seen by the bus driver?

pitapie,
I am not sure if it is my son or the other kids...But I know how he is here at home, and believe me, I have gone round and round with him on the way he talks and acts....The new picture I put up looks like me after a few rounds with my little stinker...HAHA....Now if I can think of those chores to make him do....hmmm....Or should I get out the ole' bar of soap?????

James Dobson says if you can get your children through adolescence alive, you've done well. I hope I can set my sights a little bit higher for my boy, but I'll try to remember this as he gets older!

BB,
It is so hard at times..Kids learn very quickly what buttons to push....My son has been pushing my for so long, I am not sure I want him to become a teenager...OMG...The grey hair is really coming in now and he is only 7.........I will be bald before he gets to puberty.....

Lol Hollis! I happen to love your picture! It feels like a no win situation sometimes.I lost it when you said maybe you should get out the ole' bar of soap.My Dad was a little twerp when he was small according to my Grandma. He had gotten into trouble for swearing. His mother got a bar of soap and told him she was washing his mouth out.He said to her "I like soap".He took it from her and took a big bite out of the soap.Lol,needless to say he got his butt whooped.

I remember those days Hollis! I use to think how nice it was going to be when my kids got to be around 15,16,17 my life would get so much easier. HAHAHA!!!
I don't know why I thought that, I could say wishful thinking or complete retardation on my part. I grew up with 5 kids in my family only 6 years apart and I know what my Mom went thru. I just thought it would be different with my kids.
I have recently been certified as a family coach and I have learned soooooo much. I was thinking the whole time in class I want to do it over, since that is not possible I can help others with theirs.
Parenting should always come from love and not fear. Fear based parenting looks like... yelling, spanking, threaten, punishing. Love based parenting looks like... listening, hugging, giving choices, giving consequences.
If your child is acting up and being mouthy try this....
Get down to there level and look at them in the eye and ask them, "what are you sad about?"
I have even tried this on my 20 year old, he still gets mouthy with me, it actually works. I have noticed everytime he is getting that way it's really nothing more then he wants to be heard and he is sad about something. He looks at me like I've gone crazy but he actually starts to tell me whats wrong.
Just a suggestion, if you try it let me know how it works.
Peace

pitapie,
I loved that kitty picture too, but someone mentioned about it looked like the cat was being hurt so I removed it..I truely love my new one better...
I bet your dad, didn't talk back after that....Unless he really liked soap....I know I don't like it when I am in the shower and my shampoo gets in there, which seems to happen often...I need to close my mouth while I rinse.........

I too grew up with 5 of us close together..5 kids in 6 years too..No wonder my Mother drank....I have tried the getting down to his level and talking, but to no avail...Today is Saturday and I have already had to put him in his room 4 times for his mouth...Not getting easier...But I will win this battle with Gods help....

Interesting about the 5 kids in 6 years!
Where are you in the birth order? I am 4th in line. There are 2 girls then 1 boy and then 2 girls. So I guess you could say I am a middle child.
My oldest son Ryan was hard to deal with and sometimes still is, I know you will win the battle. I have faith! I should have been named Faith. LOL
