 My religious beliefs
for the benefit of y'all on Christianchat:

I do believe in:
~the trinity
~an infalliable Bible
~both freewill and predestination (yes, I know that doesn't make sense at first glance)
~Intelligent Design (as opposed to theistic evolution)
~Literal interpretation of scripture where it has been generally held to be literal
    -same goes for figurative interpretation
~Paul is scripture, but his letters are to be taken as guidelines not infalliable truths(yes, I know that seems to contradict my belief that the Bible is infalliable, but just ask me about it and I'll explain in more detail)
~drinking in moderation (if you are of age)
~a literal hell
~a literal satan
~speaking in tongues by anyone willing to accept the gift
~the rapture (not sure on my endtime beliefs exactly, because I honestly haven't researched it)
~salvation can be lost by rejecting Christ (unsure if it can be lost by sinful living)
~Christians do NOT replace Jews as God's chosen people
~Sabbath is on Saturday. Church can be anyday
~Pain is sometimes necessary for growth (dang it) ...came to accept that truth rather recently after a nice chat in PM land. stupid nice chats. ;)

I do not believe in:
~macroevolution
~100% predestination
~100% free will
~prosperity doctrine
~drunkness
~swearing

Unsure about:
Christians still having to follow Torah

So since everyone knows labels are pretty much awesome (...) my label as a Christian is non-denominational, but honestly I just call myself one because that is what my parents are. I'm not quite sure if my beliefs even match up with that of a non-denom.

I agree with Christian247. Holliebeth, I have a 2nd cousin with the same name. Her father is my first cousin (cuz Danny) from Louisiana. He is off to Africa with his wife to do missionary work.

Hollie Beth, you are doing such a good job standing for your faith on the threads. Were you by any chance homeschooled? I just have a hunch you may have been.

We homeschooled our now grown kids and our sons were into the courtship vs dating after they heard Greg Harris's son at a convention. They were quite relieved not to have to think about it until they were ready to be serious. I must warn you though, when you do meet that special one, take a deep breath, it may be a whirlwind! :)

Keep the Fire!

As far as Torah-Hebrew for "Kara-Chara" root word (instructions). Every thought of God is instruction to us. It's all lead by the Holy Spirit ( Spirit of the Law) whom doesn't lead us away from His Laws. We grow in grace and sanctification of His words. Yeshua was not against His Law(Torah), but rebuked the extra-biblical add-ons to the 613 that blocked them from seeing who He really was. The Law has been blured by legalism and liberalism of it's definition that folks get scared! smile

As far as the 10 commandments their all based on; it's all about Loving God and our neighbor in how we live as a witness empowered by Him. Yeshua fullfilled the blood sacrifices in the Law ( book of Hebrews). He never did away with the morality. The morality of it applies for us Christians. The New Testement Letters of Paul are based on the application of the written Law and the Spirit Torah)written on or hearts by the Holy Spirit.

Many of those laws only show we are not perfect and need His Mercy. Yet He gave us His Holy Spirit to help us overcome and grow in His instructions. Some have misinterterpted it to live a lawless lifestyle etc. In the Millinium, it'll be a whole different story with our new bodies and minds.

thanks for your post, it's encouraging!
