I saw a briliant yellow and black bird dash at the feeder today where I rest my eyes while working at the computer. It was much too bright to be a chickadee and I don't think they come very far south like this. I can't believe it could be a canary that got loose. Does anyone have any suggestions?
It seemed marked like an oriole but defiinitely yellow, not orange.
We learned all the birds in grade school at this fantastic little country school we went to at my grandmother's sometimes. We learned the neatest things! This was the beginnning of my realizing I wasn't like the other kids because I was really fascinated and memorized everything. I remember learning that the Romans humiliated their enemies by making them walk under the arch. They had to bend to do it.
I'll try to get a snapshot.
Now it's time for my 6 o'clock walk!

It could be a goldfinch they are about the side of a sparrow....they sort of flit and dip when they fly...we have them around here...they're really cute...the females are more greenish yellow...
