| My Sister, my heart breaks for her
|
|
|
My younger sister was married 4 months ago,
after re-meeting her high school sweetheart.
Quit her job, sold her condo, and moved south to a place
she hated. To a place where our mother was diagnosed.
She was so in love.
She called him LoML (love of my life)
Three weeks after the wedding, he started drinking.
He never told her of his "problem"
Two months after the wedding he hit her.
Three months after the wedding, my sisters and I,
drove 1400 miles in 48 hours,
packed her up and moved her back home.
Four months after the wedding, her husband is dead.
His downward spiral was fast.
From the day we left to the day the neighbor found him at the bottom of the stairs.
17 days.
His life is over.
My sister is blaming herself.
My heart breaks.
He made the choices.
She gave him so many chances.
She blames herself for leaving.
If she didn't leave, he wouldn't have been fired.
If she didn't leave, he would still be alive.
It was his choice to drink.
It was his choice to lie.
It was his choice not to seek the help that was offered.
It was his choice.
She loves him so much
He loved the bottle more then he loved himself or her.
I don't know what to say to her.
She is in so much pain.
Therefore I am.
All of us, my sisters and I are close.
WE are all we have.
My heart breaks.

There is not all that much you can do, really, except be there for her. She's grieving, "it's a process". She will cry and she will hurt, but you have to stay strong for her and help her cope with it in the best way you can. Time heals all wounds.
