| What a weekend. |
I feel so bad that I haven't written all weekend. But my daughter (we'll call her KJ on here) had here birthday party was this weekend. It was a crazy weekend. But it was awesome. She turned 7 on Saturday and had a nice little party (about 10 kids, plus some siblings and parents). She had asked her friends not to bring her any gifts, but instead she asked then to bring items to be put in care packages for the Troops in Afghanistan. See, my little brother is stationed there and my daughter is very close to him (I'm a single mom and she doesn't see her father and my brother is that male figure in her life). She wanted to have him be a part of her party and thought that making care packages for him and the other men and women with him would be a great way to do that. They brought so much stuff and packed over 13 boxes to be sent. It was amazing. We had it at a local pizza parol and the kids made pictures and wrote letters to be sent with the packages.
The hardest part of this weekend was being around all the foods I love to eat. I mean I'm not hungry, but they all smelled so good. I do not want to eat like I did, but let me tell you, I miss spices and chewing. Luckily I only have 3 more days of a liquid diet. Then I get to add a bit more, and a few things I can chew like scrambled eggs and canned chicken. Other than being faced with al those yummy smells, this weekend was great. KJ had a blast, my mom was a great help and my best friend from SF came down the spend time with us. She is KJ's godmother and has been my best friend since the 1st grade. So, all in all it has been a great weekend and I got to test out my new ability to say NO to food. I love the freedom that comes along with eating to live and not living to eat.
