CM Punk Is The New World Champion
Of course this is old news now, this happened last week. But I would like to take a bit of time to sit and write about this title change and what I see it doing for the WWE and CM Punk.

Let me first say that before last Monday night I was NOT a fan of CM Punk. I hated him gimmick. I hated his style. I hated his personality. But he managed to do something to me last Monday that has not happened in a long time while watching a wrestling program, he gave me goosebumps! It was classic, Edge was down in the ring after the attack from Batista, then CM Punk cashes in his MITB title shot and stole the title from Edge. It was something that most wrestling fans wanted to happen but no one really thought it was possible. I mean we're talking CM Punk here, the man who most thought accidentally won the Money In The Bank Ladder Match and Wrestle Mania. Who would have knew they would give him a world title, especially so early in his WWE career. Not just the young WWE career, but his gimmick and look are nothing of the classic champions. He doesn't shape up to a Triple H, Batista, John Cena, Steve Austin, hell not even Ric Flair... CM Punk looks like a 'normal guy' with a bunch of tattoos. He looks nothing like a wrestling world champion.

So was this a smart move by the WWE? I think so... Think about it, it's new blood. In an era were ratings are dropping and PPV buys are low, the WWE needed to do something dramatic. They needed to break away from the 'conventional' and do something out of the box. So they put the World Championship on CM Punk. I think with CM Punk as champion ratings will go up as well as PPV buys, just because now fans know that anything can happen in the WWE. They have braught back the element of surprise that has been missing for so long.

As for CM Punk, I think this can be good and bad for his career depending on how the WWE plays it out. If they keep the belt on him for a while and let him win out matches in clean wins, then I think it will make him look like a legit champion, one that could possibly go down in the record books and be on top for a while. But if they take the title away from him too fast or have him retain via DQ a lot, then I think it will hurt him and bury him eventually. Most wrestling fans, at least some of the hardcore WWE fans, are not hardcore CM Punk fans. This is not Ring of Honor, it's the WWE... And to be honest, CM Punk hasn't really proved himself on WWE terms.

Time will tell what happens with CM Punk... Time will tell...

I appoligize for my poor spelling and random thoughts :)

Hi, if u allow me to share my thoughts, you hit the nail on the head when u said WWE needed to do something out of the box. They have made CM Punk a champion not because his decorated in tattoos but because he has more skills than a Batista or someone else. Also WWE is silently competing with the UFC, whose champions are not oversized muscle heads but are packed with tons of skills a athletic ability.

It's a great thing that CM Punk is a champ because this guy sets good examples to the younger viewers. Like his drug free attitude. CM Punk earned his ECW championship belt and now he's earned his the WWE Champion. There should be more atheletes like CM Punk,
