 Meditation for me
My first meditation experience was with a counsellor.  It was a guided meditation    Although I knew nothing about meditaion I continued to walk through the guided sequence every now and then.

I still know very little about the art of meditaion.  I have in the past sat on the beach and felt this amazing sensation of being part of everything....being out there in the stars and being assimulated into the universe.   This is how I explained it in my own words.

The very strange thing is that when I started to read some meditation books this is exactly the sensation that is described.  It is odd how one understands these things before really understanding them.  It is like a deep sense of dejavu  The book describes it further as a sense of being part of the eternal now.  There is no future, no pat just the now.

As I learn a little more and read a little further the concepts all seem to make sense.  It does not have to be wrapped in religion which is often the case.  Meditation on its own is pure form of emotional and peace.
Both Alan Watts and Jack Kornfield have a wonderful way of unraveling the mysteries of the ancient art that has been around for ...well since the birth of time.

There is alot of things drawn into meditation.  Some are good and some are strange and some are down right spooky.  But the real understanding comes with in us and there is no point in doing it except for the journey itself.  It is like dancing.  One dances for the shear joy of dancing and any benefits it may have are secondary.

I started burning incense and lighting candles long before I realized any connection to the soul or meditative state.  Only now are things solidifying or rather clearing into a pattern of comprehension.

If anyone would like to listen to some amazing audiobooks by some amazing meditation teachers let me know.  I would love to share these with you.

Just remember it is about an open minded approach. We all have a journey to take and we all must go our separate ways to find what we believe is out there.
