| What do you mean to the world? |
So here I am, back at Thoughts after all these months. I got lazy, but I hope I still have the ability to write a decent blog. ;)

Amazing, isn't it? Everyone is so caught up in their own life on earth, when in reality what we do on earth means nothing to anyone or anything out there (disregarding the variable that there may be a God of some sort, of course). I'm not saying that we should run riot simply because we're so small and seemingly worthless, though. That's not what I'm saying at all. Hear me out.
If we're so small and, as far as we know, so far away from any other civilization similar to our planet's, then what does it matter if we're rich or poor? Who cares what other people think of you? What is success? I believe that everyone has their own unique success story in them just waiting to unfold. Sadly, however, in these times success and happiness is falsely portrayed as something that comes naturally with wealth and power, and the people who chase these dreams often find themselves unsatisfied once they get there. Perhaps a person can be truely happy with his os her life when they reach this, but I'm saying that just because we have been brainwashed into believing that more money means greater happiness.
To quote the wonderful film Into The Wild, which is the perfect film to voice what I'm trying to get across, "My days were more exciting when I was penniless." - Is that not a beautiful line? Anyone who has been on both sides of the money spectrum would probably agree if they are being honest with themselves. Well, maybe not. I shouldn't assume things, but I think it would be probable as the best things in life are free.
Financial security is important for things like, you know, survival... Money isn't the enemy. It's just manipulative.
Another thing I have to say on the subject, which is quite different but quite relevant to the previous paragraphs in a way, is what I said in the title. What do you mean to the world? As I've said a number of times in this entry, we are so small. If earth is so small, should it not be easy to make an impact on it? It is. It doesn't matter if you influence the lives of millions of people around the globe, or if you inspire just one person... Either way, you have changed someone's life. Okay, so you may not be the inspirational type. All you have to do to change someone's outlook on life if is be friendly, be kind, be thoughtful.. It's really that simple.
Imagine a deeply depressed person is walking down the street. This person is suicidal and has given up all hope. They believe that there is no good in the world. They believe people are all selfish, disloyal and cruel. This person gets on a bus, a thousand different thoughts running through their mind. On the bus, the man sitting opposite this person offers up his seat to an elderly lady. Kindness. Getting off the bus, the driver wishes this person a good day on his way out. Kindness. A person waiting to get on kindly moves out of the way to allow this person off the bus, throwing them a friendly smile at the same time. Kindness. Obviously these things won't cure deprssion, but they could easily improve or alter someone's views on people. So simple, yet so effective.
So tell me, what have you done for the world? What are you going to do? What do you wish you had done? You can still be a good person, even if you have a bad track record so far.
Personally, I want to write. I want to write books, screenplays, or even just blogs if that's how it plays out. I want to write things that inspire people. Things that move people. A film, a book, a sentence can be so unbelievably powerful. I am in love with this concept. Yes, I am using the term 'in love'. I only hope that I inspire someone to be a better person in my lifetime, even if it's just one. That would be good enough for me.
