Wayne - you, pissed off?! Since when does that happen? Glad you enjoyed it...
BlueMoon - it is an honor that you would take the time to actually spell out "laugh out loud" in this day and age. I'm very glad you liked it.
jebe - that's right, I've come a long way, and now feel fully recovered. Question is, are you willing to try being next?
Whitters - thank you so much. Glad you stopped by and had a laugh!

soul girl, maybe we're all name-callers; after all, we all get angry. Just that most manage to squelch it before it leaves our mouths (or keyboards). It's good when we can convert negativity into something funny, and create a silly blog out of it. Now, that's recycling at it's finest!
november - thanks for your appreciation. Without you, this blog might not have been possible. For the benefit of any other visitors, november was not one of the actual name-callers, but was in the right place at the right time. Sort of helped it all come about. Welcome to Thoughts!
sweet marie - - reaching out to others, with whom we have not seen eye to eye, usually takes one brave person stepping forward to get the ball rolling. Thanks for stopping by - - or has this whole thing just been one big dream :) ?!

pita, I'm always glad to give you reason to laugh. Life's too short to not fit in a little laughter now and again, isn't it?

Seems like the two of you are hot air ballooning on a bright, clear day. You have managed to jettison the weight of 'petty differences' overboard, which keep so many of us on the ground. Well wishes to both of you as you continue your journey.

Beatles, Super Bowl ... you threw a few things in to the mix that could warrant their own lengthy responses ... however;
One thought that came to me about your wife backing off of the therapy is that maybe it's like avoiding the doctor just so you can't get any bad news ... she's unhappy, and she may feel if this therapist can't bring relief, she's "stuck" that way for good. So, end the therapy and leave open a sliver of hope that someday, somehow things will get better. Maybe that's the thought process.
You're dead-on about the McCartney/Lennon difference; that's why they were such a great team. Even when John went for silly, he was still increbibly introspective ... have you listened to "Crippled Inside"? McCartney, on the other hand, dealt with criticism from John that all he did was write rubbish by turning out "Silly Love Songs". I think his way of saying, "what's it to you, John?"

Hi bell - - I like your style; you're honest, you have a beef, and you air it out. So I'm going to let you in on a secret: if you had a body part that always pointed you in the right direction, you'd learn to trust it, and yes even think with it, too. In fact, I daresay you might even come to embrace it. Or vice versa? I don't know, I'm easily confused.
Btw, you got any evidence of a man actually making a mistake or doing a wrong thing? Cause I'm pretty sure you're just making that part up. Everything else is right on, though. Peace!

Peanut Butter Honey Popcorn Balls With Chocolate S on 2008-03-24 10:26:13 |

You're so lucky you had popcorn - - the one staple my broke, hungry friends and I always had on hand would have been a complete disaster in this scenario. Can you imagine Ramen noodle honey chocolate peanut butter balls?! Yeechh. Now imagine it again, with Bud Light added to the mix. Because I'm sure if we were mixing anything, that would have found it's way in - - always did! Take care...

Listen to KP, and lastblast, on this one. Hard as it may be to restrain yourself from trying to help, let him work through this. If it doesn't work out that gets a date, plan a "mandatory" family trip that overlaps with prom night - - at least then you're the fall guy for his not being able to attend.
Hopefully things will work out and he'll go -- but if not, it's not a tragedy and will be completely forgotten by him eventually. Good luck.

Yes, you will survive. Excellent bit of introspection; delivered in a way many of us can relate to, no doubt.
28 years old, and you think life is passing you by? I had to smile at that notion ... there are many that would give their right arm to be 30 again ... just keep putting one foot in front of the other, concentrate on what lies ahead of you, try not to depair over the passing of time - - it's completely beyond any of our abilities to do anything about that. Worrying about it expends valuable energy that can be much more beneficially directed elsewhere.

lastblast - - that's what I imagine WK's wife was thinking when she downplayed this being the husband's fault. You captured what I can only imagine a great many women are thinking.
circe - I saw some bad pictures of her, and some good ones too. I could see a billionaire hiring her at $1500/hr. Go compare to the mug shot of Hugh Grant's hooker, to see how low even rich, successful men are capable of stooping. Then extrapolate to guess what Joe Neighbor might get for $30 on the street. It all leads back to: Why do men do this, what is wrong with us?
I think it was Charlie Sheen who said: I don't pay for the sex, I pay so the woman will leave when the sex is finished.

Well done review, Mr. Brain. I'll wait for this one to hit DVD. I've enjoyed Jack Black in just about everything I've seen him in, including that weak mexican wrestling one. Something about him cracks me up.
Just rented 'Balls of Fury' for the kids; that seemed like it would have been a perfect vehicle for him. I'm guessing either he didn't like the script, or they couldn't afford him. No doubt he would have made it much better. Later ...

I read your blogs in reverse order. Just finished 'Mr. Man', about how much men suck, now found this one you wrote a month earlier talking about keeping this place warm and welcoming. It's all good, nobody goes around as a one-dimensional piece of cardboard, we all have multiple sides that surface in different moments. Still, pretty funny, when you see them side by side.

I like it when people are not afraid to tell it like it is, good job. My 2 cents:
There are no decent men out there; only some that use decency as a facade to get past a woman's defenses.
The other thing is, think about how much time and money women spend to look good. Hair, face, clothes, etc. When a woman is just hanging in with no plans, sweats and a t-shirt are perfectly acceptable. When heading out, they go through "the process" to get ready. This can take an hour or more, for some. Who are they looking good for - - themselves? Other women? Men, possibly?
Understand that even if the goal is to please herself or make other women slightly envious, the inescapable by-product of having that nice hair, perfume, lipstick, eyes, and face being made up is that men will look at you. If we look for more than two seconds, the fantasy has already begun. This is not by choice, we can't control it any more than women can control their emotions. It's how we work. What is within our ability is to hide what we're thinking, but I'll bet you have already seen that many guys can't even handle that much. If calling us pigs is how women wish to describe the fact that we can't fight our attraction to women, then yeah I can go along with that. We're pigs.
Manipulation sounds bad, but it's what both genders do to get what they want. Some women dangle the carrot of sex to get "things"; some men dangle the carrot of "things" to get sex. Somewhere along the way, a relationship is formed. It's probably been that way since the beginning of time.
Leering at you around the house is a whole different story; it's creepy, and you should talk to your sister to have him straightened out. Easier said than done, given your living arrangment - - you sound slightly trapped. If talking to her about this is not an option, at the very least try to avoid situations around the house involving alcohol (or the like), especially if your sister is not present. This is for both you and any of your friends. Otherwise, you may be inviting trouble.
Best of luck...

Religious Bumper Stickers on 2008-03-03 09:05:03 |
|
I'm pretty laid back during the commute, but I would have a shorter fuse if I lived on the road, as in sales or trucking. Scary thought - - big truck, short fuse driver. One of the things that amuses me on the highway is seeing the cars with the "pious" bumper stickers weaving in and out, speeding, and otherwise being obnoxious. Lots of people do it, unfortunately, sticker or not. But when I spot a Jesus fish or a "Coexist" sticker, and the driver being a jerk, I can't help but smile at how they reveal their true self!
On a slight tangent, didja ever make a voting decision based on an encounter with an a-hole driver sporting a particular candidate's bumper sticker? Nope, me neither.
