Boy, if they all went like this, you might have to abandon your journalistic pursuits in favor of stepping up to a minimum wage job! File this experience away in a safe place. You'll want it at your fingertips in about ten years, when you're ready to put together a retrospective of all the personalities profiled at that point in your career. Thanks for the laughs; sorry for what you had to endure to provide them! Take care...

Great post... "Um, excuse me...where can I find the caskets and urns? Aisle 32? Great thanks ... and what's your return policy on those?" I love the description of the faux Euro-chic exterior. These places love to class themselves up. Not a bad thing, just funny. Reminds me of a McDonalds near me that redid the interior to include a fake fireplace, scenic paintings, fancy wall treatments ..hel-LO, this is where I come for my kids Happy Meals!! Have a good one...

Message to Soul: Please don't wait until the *next* Feb 29th rolls around to let Difficult have her say again. I like this girl's fire. Even if she has trouble deciphering who the real bullies are. She's still cool to me. P.S. yer not so bad yerself, Soul Girl. Thanks for another great read. Take care...

An excellent treatise on what has become a staple among American meals. I know what I'm having for dinner tonight - - well, maybe not the exact flavor, but my mouth is definitely watering for some pizza. Have you ever tried lobster chunks as a topping? Don't know if that strikes you as sacriligious or adventuresome, but I've had it, and man it is some kind of wonderful!!

Thanks Soul Girl. I don't mind being dead, though. Remember, all things happen for a reason...

Seeing your blog stay quiet for a couple days, I thought that maybe you had called it quits. Which is really unreasonable on my part; we all need to take breaks from time to time. Still, I know when many small minds band together to create a cacophony and point the finger at you, it can drive any sane person to call it a day. I appreciate your style, I'm sure others do too, and I'm glad to see that at least for now, you choose to continue sharing your thoughts with us. Take care...

Posted in When She Became A "We." on 2008-02-28 11:42:26
As close as "We" sounds, chances are there is still some information shared only between you and your best friend. If you are really daring, try dating your somewhat-of-a-brother's best friend. Zero secrets between the four of you in 30 days or less, guaranteed. It can lead to some odd situations. Someday you're bound to become a We too. So why put it off? C'mon, jump in, the water's ... well, jump in anyway!

Sounds like being born into the fairer sex carries with it the burden of inheriting the nurturing spirit that is Mother Earth.

Posted in Forgive me...I'm blonde on 2008-02-27 10:32:15
I just stopped by to register a formal complaint. Given your thesis, I found it highly offensive you included vocabulary that I had to look up the meaning of. Apotheosis, indeed. The next time you are thinking about extolling the virtues of playing the dumb blonde, please take care not to talk so far above the limited intellect of your audience (i.e., those as dumb as me). :) Seriously though, very funny take on the subject. Great post. Take it easy.

Posted in What happened to LuckyLuci? on 2008-02-27 10:05:34
Luci was a diamond (in the sky - - get it? lol), who had a falling out with the site for the same reasons as some before her. I just don't know whether she left because she was fed up (as she hinted to me that she might), or was kindly shown the door. Either way, our loss. Not that she and I agreed across the board on things, just that I admired her powers of observation and her courage in speaking out, going against the grain. Not enough of that going around, at least not in the sane, intelligent way that she did it. Kooks aplenty; they are welcome to stay and spout as long as they want. "U.S. is an evil empire; shoot Obama; Bush sucks; ghost whisperers" - - hey, welcome! Come on in, pull up a chair, we like your kind here. But get in a beef with the wrong people? Well, let's just say that's how I earned my wings... Yeah, it takes all kinds. ALL kinds. Not just dem's dat's agreein' witcha!!

Posted in No trouble-makers in Heaven on 2008-02-27 09:52:16
Thank you much, my dear. Though honestly forgiveness is not what I'm looking for, since being called a name doesn't make me that thing. It's just someone else's view of me; which is of course valid to them. I'm no trouble maker - - it's just that WASAKAs take great offense to things that upset their fragile world. For that, I don't pity them, fear them, or dislike them - - I just observe what is.

Thanks DS. I'll stop by your blog again, but I admit I tend to enjoy prose over poetry. You noticed the angelic icon? 'MS Paint' can work miracles of its own, so it would seem. Just as the old Derek icon went from 'normal' to 'battered' as an arrow sprouted from his chest. I always knew those early years spent with crayons and blank pages would pay off some day. Just look at me now! Thanks for keeping an open mind, I appreciate you for that.

Reading this, and having seen your other thoughts, leads me to believe you need to ask some hard questions about this outside source of happiness. I think deep down you are already aware of this.

Was not aware this movie even existed; but now I plan to seek it. Thanks for taking the time to share this review with the world. You have quite a gift.

Forced contrition, eh? Looks like someone got to you; what a shame.

Posted in Younger brother syndrome on 2008-02-22 23:26:13
Now that a few weeks have passed since you wrote this, read it again. Ask yourself, who in your family really resents who? You may want to examine the root of your feelings about your brother, so you can address them internally, and maybe even clear the air with him while your both still above ground.

Posted in Speaking Out About Online Futility on 2008-02-20 15:09:20
I share your perspective on posting - - I'm familiar with sites that lead you to believe all opinions are welcome, when in fact if you don't share the majority opinion you quickly find out how exclusive they really are. Some are simply positive affirmation sites, disguised as free-thinking blogs. Still, even those can be good for a laugh on the right day ...

Posted in In A Previous Life--perhaps on 2008-02-20 14:52:55
Don't know if you've ever come across "All In The Mind", by Ian Wilson. It's a quick read, with some interesting theories into the phenomenon of past lives. I share your sense of being watched in stores, etc, and as maitai suggested, I attribute it to the presence of all the cameras, along with memories of my days in retail where we were trained not to take our eyes of any customers for long, because they're all potential thieves. Nice, huh? You know this is why big chains have "people greeters"? The psychological effect of being noticed makes some would-be thieves think twice, as they feel more 'visible'.

Posted in Picking A Blog With Blogging on 2008-02-20 14:08:09
I agree with your observations, but why object to people using the site as they see fit? Thousands of members means thousands of reasons for joining. I find it easy enough to disregard stuff that doesn't hold my interest, and enjoy scavenging for finds that entertain in one way or another.

Posted in Hentai or Porn?--pick your poison on 2008-02-20 13:26:50
Forgive my commenting on something you probably see as ancient history in terms of your blogs. I enjoyed some of your recent ones, and decided to go do some catching up. That said... When photography was invented what do you suppose were among the first subjects ever taken? And when the technology to make those pictures move came along, what was among the very first ways that handy advancement was put to use? The success of porn shows humankind's fascination with the subject. And so the trend continues. As animation continually reaches higher levels in its state of the art - - hand drawing, computer modeling - - it's all fair game to be used as the next format for new porn. I don't see much of a distinction between hentai, anime, live action ... if it's porn, it's porn. And it's all immensely popular. More money spent in the U.S. annually between novelty stores, DVDs, and web sites than the four major pro sports attendance, combined. It's obviously doing something for someone, if not for you. I was surprised by the intolerance in your response to Kris. I thought she gave some honest feedback.

No need to ask to be pardoned for your thoughts. I find them to be among the most coherent and relevant of those I choose to read. Thanks!

I agree that people should clean up their comments, out of courtesy to their readers. I've written about it as well. So no, you're not the only one. I don't consider it being picky. By the way, it's "worse than", not "worse then"; and it's Ebonics, not Ebonix. You also misspelled "misspelling", a common error. There were also other minor typos and a missing capitalization; however your point comes shining through. One point of disagreement: I think it is true that the more you read, the better you will write.
