I might not be smart enough
By Gene Clark
I don’t know if I’m smart enough to make this week’s column make sense.
Many folks don’t think I have ever made sense, but here goes.
We are on the eve of the 5th anniversary of the Iraq war. We have been blowing up “islamofacists” for quite some time, and we have been blowing them up on their own turf.
We are to believe that the September 11th attacks by cowardly suicide aviators were engineered by Bin Laden in part because of our continued armed presence in Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries after the first Gulf War. They also hate our guts because of our freedom.
The entire Bush administration has been based on the premise that we must be willing to do anything to stop the “terrorists” because “terrorists” will not stop until we are all dead.
Tons and tons of experts tell us we aren’t any safer than we were on September 10, 2001. We hear over and over that our northern and southern borders are invaded by thousands of illegal immigrants each year.
Why haven’t there been more attacks?
I’m not wishing for attacks. I’m just asking why an enemy that will stop at nothing to kill us all has stopped.
I think attacks have stopped because the folks calling the “terrorist” shots know that if we get attacked again we will pave the Middle East.
My idea does not jive with the picture of the “islamofacists” as crazed jihadists willing to blow themselves up to kill infidels and grab 6 dozen virgins in the afterlife. Truly crazed people would have kept coming; they wouldn’t terrorize responsibly.
That’s why I think the head terrorists are very smart people.
The attacks on September 11, 2001, were spectaculars. They were carried live on all the networks, all day, for months. We got mad as Hell and we went after the bastards. When we were convinced that Saddam was one of the cowards, we went after Iraq.
There could be an American armed presence in Iraq for years to come no matter who becomes President. We are told we fight them there so we don’t fight them here. The implication is that our presence in Iraq is keeping truly crazed people from simply coming over here while we are over there.
Do you remember why we went to Kuwait in 1991? Saddam Hussein had invaded Kuwait. Our friends in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia invited us over to kick Saddam out of the Kuwait oil fields and to keep him from casting a covetous glance at the Saudi oil fields.
Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are monarchies. We handed Kuwait back to the Kuwait royal family. Saudi Arabia allowed our troops to hang around just in case anyone thought about going for the Saudi jackpot.
Saudi Arabia’s royal family took a good look at the Middle East and deduced the three biggest threats to their continued rule were “islamofascism,” a secular dictator with a killer army and a mean streak, and the fact that the oil won’t last forever.
So, they had to figure out how to thwart “islamofascism,” get rid of the secular dictator with a mean streak, and find ways of making money that did not rely on oil.
I suggest that September 11 allowed Saudi Arabia to accomplish all three things and do it with someone else’s money.
• America is on the “islamofacists” like stink on a skunk.
• America and her Dad, England, took care of the secular dictator with a mean streak.
• The price of oil went up, up, up, and the Saudi Arabian royal family was able to take the windfall profits and use them to diversify without cutting into the funds necessary to finance their lifestyle. Check the news. Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern monarchies have been buying chunks of America for a while. They got really lucky when the sub-prime mortgage market went belly up; they really bit deep into our banking industry.
I’m not saying Dubya had anything to do with the attacks. However, the Saudi royal family and the Bush family go way back. The Saudis have known Dubya since he was a pup. They knew how he would react. He had to become President.
I can’t believe that even Vice President Dick is evil enough to be in on this, but he was perfect as VP. As the guy that ran Halliburton for years, Dick would be able to see the business opportunities that would develop if we did a little “islamo butt kicking.”
Bin Laden is a Saudi. The majority of the 9/11 highjackers were Saudi. The money trail leads back to the Saudis.
If I was a total paranoid, I might get the wrong idea.
