Larry Craig....I Go both ways!

Well, my very first post was all about Larry Craig. I was so happy he was caught and outed because he has been such an ass when it comes to gay rights. All the while he has been cruising bathrooms and getting blowjobs for who knows how many years, he has always voted against our gay rights. All this time he has enjoyed the man to man action himself, hiding in a sexless marriage for his political protection, then bashing gays and doing his best to make sure we are not allowed the same privilidges that he gets by living in a "phoney" marriage. I can understand hiding in a marriage, at least 20 years ago, I did that myself. But I also had the balls to come out of the closet and deal with my sexual orientation. Its not so deadly as it was 20 years ago.

With all that said, now I jump to the other side of the fence. I do hope that Larry Craig is able to overturn his guilty plea! I have to admit, other than some flirtatious play under the stall with what Craig believed was another consenting adult. He did not break any laws. Ok, he tapped his foot, the cop tapped back. He slid his hand under the stall. He did not touch anything! If the guy on the other side was not interested, he could easily have said so, instead he continued to lead him on. I bet it would have stopped if the cop did not tap his foot in return to Craig's advance.

What if it was going to go further, what if Craig asked him back to a hotel room, still no law would have been broken. It is this stuff that makes it bad for all of us. For many men, they do not have any other avenue, we have been so badly treated as a group of people, that others are afraid of being exposed. There is really no where for a guy to go and it is very sad that it has to be a bathroom, a rest area or some other public place.

I can understand Craig's frustration to a point. I regularly go to this park, there is a playground, loads of trails, a small lake, etc. It is also a place where you can occasionally find gay and married men cruising. I have been going to this park, several times a week for three years. When the park dept is there, they will follow me around, I have made it quite clear to them in the past that I am Gay, but not there for anything other than enjoying the park and its walking trails. Everytime they see me there, they sneak around behind me, hiding behind trees, etc. Trying to catch me in the act of sex or something in the woods. For three years they have never seen me do anything of the kind, but will waste all their time and energy following me all around the park, should I be there when they are.

Sometimes they even send undercover cops, wearing skimpy shorts and looking pretty hot, just to try and catch someone, after they lure them with their officer decoy! These practices should not be allowed, nor should someone get prosecuted after being tempted in such ways. Even when the decoys have been planted, they have never been able to find me doing anything wrong. For me, my question would be, when does this cross the line of keeping the park safe, and harrassing those that use the park. If I was in the park with a girl, and walking the trails, I bet there would be no cause to be followed. Although could I not have sex in the woods with a female, if I were straight? Only guys are followed around, in hopes we are scared out of the park. Here is what these experiences has done for me, since I feel they are now just harrassing me, I try to go there everyday, to make sure they know I am there and will not be driven away!!

Because of all that, I hope Craig gets off on the charges. The rest of the damage is already done, we all know still to this day, why he was in that bathroom and what he was looking for. But I believe flirting in this country is still legal, especially if the other one is flirting back!
