 Being Thankful
Yesterday as I was coming home from my parents, there was a big red truck stuck on the ice at the end of my street. Seeing that it wasn't going to get moving without help, I immediately stopped and offered to help push the truck. With a bit of effort, we managed to get the truck off the ice patch and the driver took off.

Then as I continued home it struck me. The man never thanked me. Not when I first offered help nor when I rendered it. As I thought about it, I didn't become angry or even upset with the driver. In truth, I became upset with myself. Really!

It occurred to me that I have a tremendous amount of things to be thankful for. Most of all I needed to be more thankful towards my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The Bible instructs us to give thanks repeatedly. One of the most notable is from 1 Thessalonians 5:18 " In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

My feelings of being upset with myself did not end even after I took time to give thanks. I thought about many times when I did give thanks to the Lord and other people who have aided me in one manner or another. The question came upon me- " Was I truly thankful, or was I just paying lip service to the ones who rendered help?" Its always polite to acknowledge the contributions others make in every area of life, but do I or even you, make it clear that their help was really appreciated, desired and needed.

In this manner I commit to try and do much better in being thankful to both my Lord Jesus and the people in my live.

That is awesome. The Holy Spirit has revealed something to you, about you. He put a mirror in front of you and you saw something that you didn't like. Now you just have to learn to love the truth about yourself and ask Him to change it.
