| Before the Devil knows you're there
|
|
|
Every girl wants to be the one that her man will change for. Sadly, for lots of us, we get our heart broken many-a-time before we find him. If we find him at all.
He's the bad boy, the funny guy, the killer smile, the tattoos that turn you on to no end. He's everything you want.
And nothing that you need.
The fool-hearted of us dwell, on the kisses, the looks, the words and the touches, shard with that one, who no matter how much you think he is, is not the one.
Walking away is so easy, forgetting is the hard part. And you might go through Hell to do it, but keep on going, face that wall, and you might get out, before the Devil knows you're there.
We have all had those moments of pure clarity - or so you thought at the time - where you think "Wow, maybe this really is it." Only to find when the clouds are lifted from your vision, it is, in fact, not.
He is the one that got away, the one that never leaves, the one you think "What if?", he's the one you regret...every single time. He's the one you had, right there beside you, and you let him go, and whether it be by choice or not, he's gone.
Most of all he is the one you won't get over, until he lets you go so you can try.
For those of us who've experienced it, heartache is a pain like no other. It makes you hurt in places you didnt even know you had.
You realise somewhere in all the confusion; isn't it odd how people can make you feel, or rather, how you let people make you feel. Because really, no-one can make you feel anything without your letting them. And then you're free. From all of it.
But you will go through Hell, so keep on going, face that wall, and you might get out,
..before the Devil knows you're there.

'every girl wants to be the one that her man will change for.'
thats silly. i wouldn't want to date a girl that tried to change me... why are you with the person if your trying to find that one person that you can 'change'. just seems silly to me.

She doesn't mean to change his personality or who he is. She is writing about his ways, some of the things that he does. Maybe he parties all night and drinks alot. It has nothing to do with wanting to change HIM.

A comment about the post and to Romeosmadworld as well.
First off, Brilliantly written. A wonderful take on that old Irish blessing.
Dangerous seduction and thrilling love-like encounters have moved us all at one point in time. As I have always said carnival rides are the best because of that added sense of danger.
Romeo... You obviously aren't that familiar with women. All of them are well versed in machiavellian machinations, even if they will never admit it.
Granted, it is normally in the man's best interest and with the spirit of self growth and a woman's personal pride.
If you have been with girlfriends who never seem to attempt change you then it is one of these options.
a. The relationship didn't last long enough (less than 1 week)
b. You were blinded by their charms.
(she's so hot I'm just glad to be near her and I'll do whatever she wants)
c. Fooled by their flattery (gee honey, the blue shirt makes me want to rip it off of you)
d. Never truly been involved in a real relationship that has worked out.
e. (this final option is most definately not the truth(unless your last name happens to be Depp, Clooney, etc etc), and if you feel it is you might desire to seek immediate counciling) You are so perfect in every way that women never desire to change you.
Thanks for the post Foxer, I truly enjoyed it.
