Ok, so I work at a call center troubleshooting internet, what really get on my nerves is when people call in looking for help with something and I am unable to do so and they completely FREAK out. I'm sorry, but if you're calling the internet tech support because you're pc wont boot up, guess what.. IT ISN'T MY PROMBLEM! It's got nothing to do with your freaking internet! And I'm sorry if i'm about to offend someone...but if you don't even know where your freaking start button is on your desktop.. SEND YOUR PC BACK TO WHERE YOU GOT IT OR GET SOMEONE TO HELP YOU!!! I can't stand sitting on the phone for 10 freaking minutes trying to tell you as clearly as i can to click on the fucking start button in the bottom left corner of your screen! I understand that some people are not computer geniuses but if you know you're going to have trouble keeping up with instructions get someone over to help you before you call for help! That annoys the crap out of me!
There, i had to let it out, it was driving me nuts, i had a few calls like that tonight and it brought my call times up, which if they get too high we get spoken to by our supervisors (kinda like a warning)
And secondly, if you had a bad day that is also not my problem...it's kinda hard to be polite and helpfull if the minute you answer the phone there is a customer on the line completely screaming at you for something you had nothing to do with. People who work at call centers are there to help you as much as possible but keep in mind that they are just that....PEOPLE.
And as much as you would like to think that we have to sit there and take your abuse you are sorrily mistaken, I for one am more tolerant than others but if you start screaming and swearing at the reps they have every right in the world to disconnect the call. You may be a customer but that gives you absolutely no right to speak to people like that. And yes i am well aware that there are people out there who work at call centers and are complete assholes,but this is based basically on my performance and i'm not really speaking on general terms, i'm speaking of the service that i provide which is excellent and polite if the call doesn't start off with screaming and swearing. I will be polite for as long as the customer is polite to me....they start being rude then i start being rude and i also care a little bit less whether i get their internet fixed or not.
It baffles my mind how people can be so high up that they think that us poor saps who work in call centers are there to do their every bidding, i like my job, but i'm also just like all of you, i go to work every day to make a life for my boyfriend and i and he does the same. I'm not there to take your crap and abuse, i'm there to do my job which is get your internet up and running and if i've exhausted all efforts as to what i'm liscenced to do then i will give you alternative ways to get your problem fixed. And if i tell you i am unable to assist you with certain aspects of your pc then i am UNABLE to assist you with those certain aspects, it's not because i don't want to, it's because my calls are monitored and if i venture into something that isn't supported by my company then i get in shit for it, and to be honest, it isn't worth it.
There, now i'm done ranting, i hope that if someone reads this the next time they're angry about a service that they have with whatever company that they will be a little more patient and a little more polite and a little less quick to be a complete dick with the poor soul who takes call after call after call all day long just to put food on the table.
