 Say What?
I have something that I have been wondering about for a very long time, and it has always bugged me, but I never knew why it is a perception that many people have. I'm sure the women will understand what I'm talking about more than the men, so let me try to explain.

Ladies, has something ever upset you or pissed you off, so you said something about it? Have you ever stood up for yourself, and told someone how you really feel? Have you ever been met with that look of 'wow she must be pmsing' or even met overhearing someone whispering that behind you?

Why is it that women are not allowed to have a strong opinion or voice their opinions without people thinking it's because they have PMS? Why are we not allowed to have strong opinions? Why are we not allowed to be bitchy just because? Do people feel threatened by women who have strong opinions and personalities? When did it become such that women have to be subdued quiet creatures with no thoughts, opinions, and feelings of their own?

If this isn't bad enough, I have now experienced a whole new level of this. Since being pregnant, if I'm having a bad day or voice my opinion people tend to think it's because I'm pregnant and because of the hormones. Talk about frustrating!

I'm not saying that women don't get emotional and such during certain times of the month, or while they are pregnant, but to use that as an excuse as to why a woman is assertive or opinionated is just absurd.

I find men to be the worst culprits when it comes to this. Women of course joke about it amongst their friends, and I know some use it as an excuse, but men just assume that is what it is. Even if they don't say it to the woman, they speak about it amongst their friends (women really do know everything lol).

I just wish men would understand that PMS and pregnancy is not a label that should be used for strong opinions, assertiveness, or a strong forward female. If you can't handle a strong female, and you can't handle the heat, then get out of the kitchen!

I completely agree. Whenever I've been in a management position/a position of authority, there's always at least ONE guy that has the hardest time following the orders of a woman. It's so frustrating.

Its' because it hase been popularized as a "reason". If men in general latch on to that A) it absolves them..B) It keeps the mind from probing deeper for a real "reason", c) it is just to convenient. there ya'have it? what I really want to know is where is the sympathy if is hormone levels??? And What is a gents' ''excuse""? :p
