 It's been a while, but...
Things have been hectic around here. Chris and l just moved the middle of march, and l'm still struggling to get things unpacked, and arguing with chris when l 'move' things to unkonwn places because he won't help me unpack, so things are complicated. We're slowly starting to get things organized, although the remaining boxes are driving me nuts - they're all chris's things, his computer shit, and no matter what he won't unpack them. So, it's left to me, and apparently l'm not putting them in the right spots.

Anyway, we got a new bird - a quaker parrot named benny/benji, tho he prefers benny l think. He's quite fun, loves to play with shoes & laces etc, but has behavior problems. I wouldn't say he was  a rescue bird, but he did need a home where he was loved and the people had time for him, and so on - his previous owner simply took him on temporarily, and his 2 before that had issues... Either way it's lead to benny having quite the confused/ing personality - someone's spent an INCREDIBLE amount of time talking to him, his knowledge of words is quite extensive AND he's got the context for a lot of it down pat. Right now l'm working on teaching him to say fish, though not sure how that'll go. I think one of the previous owners must've been a little bit abusive or aggressive though, he cowers away from our hands sometimes...

We're working through it though, doing LOTS of research,  improving his diet and whatnot, so we'll see. I have to admit, even when he bites the livin daylights outta me, l still love him. l think chris does too, although he's frustrated right now b/c benny seems to have switched his favoritism from chris to myself this time (he tends to switch ppl he likes, l think. not sure why, but hopefully research will answer.)

Things l've noticed so far about him, and Questions

1 - He's quite possessive/protective of his cage (unless you have treats.)
2 - When he bites he often says 'its' ok'
3 - When he says "Awww" (as you're petting him) it may mean he's horny? or Afffectionate. Still having trouble telling the difference.
4 - He's horny - does the head bob, clicking and rubbing.
5 - Likes a WIDE variety of foods, and eats them very easily
6 - Loves the peekaboo dance (ducking behind things, and whispering peekaboo at times.) He's playing peekaboo with a pair of rolled up socks right now.
7 - will only really eat spinach as a treat reward, instead of by himself like the peppers and stuff.

Anyway
got a lot l wanna do today
so l'll post more later to explain all the other shit that's happened recently. hehe

hi little fish...
that bird sounds like lots of fun!!
i thought that the head-bob thing was just 'cause he's happy...that's what i was told once, that it's just a kind of 'happy dance'.
anyway cheers!!

Hey, Fishy. This is your old pal Looking4Savannah. Sounds like you are getting things together! Kudos to you! My brother-in-law has a parrot, and at family gatherings, the bird is the most entertaining being in the room. I just looked back at what I wrote you. I was a bit harsh. I wish I had not been so blunt, but my heart was in the right place and my words are ones I still stand by. But it seems you have made your own way, and that's not easy to do. I know we don't know each other, but I am really happy to see you are doing well. Best wishes to you as you continue your life.

the thing is savannah, this was my plan all along, and made clear in most of my posts. l've birds since l was 15 years old, and honestly they've been my lifeline. and honestly, you don't really know what you're talking about. sorry, but you don't. moving does not mean things are all rosy, and for me l doubt they ever will. getting a parrot was simply a realization of an old dream, one l'm incredibly happy about.. depression and anxiety are simply 'dramatic' aspects of a person's life. l would've thought you'd realize that, to be honest - sometimes, no matter how hard we try to eliminate the side affects of being unable to judge our lives, there are still events that, to an outsider, seem over-done. based on the comments you left me, you were judging me based on my blog entries, which were filled with the negative - because that's what was going on in my life. please think before you judge next time, b/c l think your own problems were marring your view on mine.
