 18 weeks 2 days

I felt the baby move on Saturday, which was when I was exactly 18 weeks.  When I had confirmed that that's what it was, I realised I had been feeling it for a few days.  I had thought I might be feeling something for a few days, but I could never be sure whether it was gas, intestinal rumblings or just my imagination.

But I was lying down quietly on Saturday afternoon when I felt what was definitely something moving inside me.  It's the strangest thing.  I've felt it a few times each day since then.

Sometimes it feels like a fluttering, sometimes like a gentle poking, sometimes like something flopping around.  It's a really weird sensation.  You can definitely tell it's in water because it has a splish-splash, ploppity-plop kind of element to it.

It's very exciting.  It's a definite sign that there's something alive in there.

My new favourite thing to is go and lie quietly on my bed and wait for the movement.  I could just lie there all day enjoying it, it's such a great feeling.  Unfortunately, the baby doesn't jump around all the time, so I'll just have to take it when I can get it, which is a few times each day at this stage.
