We disembarked the ferry at 9am and were gone by 9.30 (organisAtion!) on our way to Olympia. It appears this trip was fast too (zzzz .. oh those damn hypnotic trees passing my window), they tell me it was a few hours! :O
We had a nice lunch at the restaurant in Olympia after a stroll around town. I bought an olympic dress and a cute olympian shirt for Seth (which when we got home he LOVED). Aubrey found me a "cats of greece" postcard - sweet :D.
After checking intot he lovely hotel Antonios, Devin, Julia and I headed to the little cemetery just down the hill from our hotel. we took some lovely shots (well i thought at the time anyway - they didnt turn out that great for me in the end - bad lighting for my poor skills with my new camera).
We met the bus for our trip to Ancient Olympia, which turned out to be a 2 minute walk from where we ate LUNCH! :O
The Temple of Hera and Zeus stand proud, plinths where the statues of the olympic winners (and cheaters in opposition) stand in a massive square (apparently there were 3000!). A trip to the museum where the remaining statues and artefacts are displayed proudly.
