There are many AI programs that create music from scratch. One of
the most interesting seems to be the program EMI (Experiments in
Musical Intelligence) created by David Cope (composer and
professor at UC Santa Cruz) to help with his writers block. The
program deconstructs the works of great composers (Bach,
Beethoven, Chopin, even Joplin), finding patterns within their
compositions, and then creates brand new compositions based on
the patterns it finds. The pieces are brand new compositions that
when performed by a live orchestra are, in my opinion are
beautiful. So, should music be a strictly human endeavor?

Computers have as much a soul as us so why not. Just going by the
numbers, that they could compass millions of tunes/symphonies a
day, they would sooner or later find one that we find amazing.

Sorry freethinker but I don't agree. Computers don't have the
ability to express in the same way as humans, not yet. But all
music is numbers.
