Yesterday was a delightfully relaxing day, after weeks of busy-ness and exhaustion.
Tom and I woke up early and spent the morning lazing about. We walked down to the Downyflake at an hour during which he could get breakfast (which he loves, I do not) and I could get lunch.
FYI - I am a very picky eater - I do not like breakfast food, and I do not eat animal products. Milk and eggs disgusted me from my earliest days. I cut meat out of my diet at the age of eight, although it took four years for the transition to be complete.
After lunch we walked back to the apartment and napped on the couch for hours while listening to new age music. Tom had fallen asleep first, and I was reading my Edward Gorey books when I fell asleep with him. I woke up as he was coming in the door from the local coffee shop. He had brought home pasta salad and a dessert, which we had for a late lunch/early dinner.
I was about to go take a bicycle ride, as he was playing chess on the computer, but instead we decided to go to the beach. We drove the car to Cisco, where he fished, and I flew my kite. This kite is SO easy. It only takes one person to launch it, and I did it sitting down on the sand!! It just flew right up into the atmosphere. The day had been really windy before, but the wind died down in the afternoon, and my kite slowly fell out of the sky and into the ocean...Tragedy! It was OK - I just had to reel it in and it took FOREVER! Every time the waves receded I thought the line would pull me into the sea.
Of course the kite was full of sand and water by the time it was reeled in, and would not fly again. Currently it is drying out in the trunk of my car.
We drove into town at the end of the day to satisfy a craving for fudge, which we bought at Sweet Inspirations. Tom bought himself chocolate covered cranberries and blueberries, his favorite.
I went to bed early, after watching a documentary on the deaths of Diana and Dodi, but found it difficult to sleep, thanks to an extremely concert at the Boys and Girls Club. I was half inclined to call and complain, but it seemed to end at ten, so all was well after all.
