 Does anyone care?????????
You tend to go crazy if you give a dam and you have to deal with the state. They have so many cases on their desks they have to get them out. Especially when a kid hits the 15 month date with the no kids left behind deal. They have to do something one way or another. It seems that they all scramble to send the kids home. It makes me sick when we all run around screaming that someone has to be held accountable when it comes to a Marcus Fisel. But as it is happening everyday with other kids they wait until something drastic happens to worry. We have seen recently state workers substantiate charges that a mother has smoked dope with her 14 year old in front of 3 of her other kids. When I say substatiated I mean the state feels there is enough evidence there to say that they know it happened. Nothing has happenned!!!!!! In fact later when the mother still failed drug tests they rewrote the safety plan so that they just tried to make sure the mother didn't do any drug when she had the kid that we had with her. What kind of crazy stuff is that??? To top it all off I am made to feel like a terrible person by everyone involved because I open my mouth and voiced concern. This child is 12 years old and the child has had a state worker for 10 years. What a life., am I the only one that says that that is wrong? The other ciblings are younger and 1 is 2 years older and they have had a social worker their entire lives. When does someone stop saying you can't change it, and break the cycle. These kids are all going to be drains on society because we are throwing them away now. Doesn't anyone care?? I don't think so because I am standing on the top of the highest peak yelling foul at the top of my lungs and no one is listening. It would be one thing if the birth parents tried to change, but when they don't and then they go as far as to tell everyone that will listen that they are not going too, why be surprised. This birth parent has been in prison on and off for 10 years and has been out about 5 months. The state is trying hard to send the kid we have home in just this short period of time. In that time the cops have been to her place 4-5 times for domestic violence, and drugs. She had beaten a boyfriend with a bat and then a day later with a chair in front of 3 of her kids. Smoked dope with her 14yo in front of the other three and manipulates everyone. Where does it end?????
Does anyone else have similar problems with state workers? What did you do to help the kids and get them what they need. I am at a loss and feel that just another one is going to go down the tubes. I don't know maybe i'm just crazy and I shouldn't care so much.

Out!

Wow. A very quiet, wow. I am at the peak over yonder. Also screaming foul at the top of my lungs. Not just for myself. I work for an attorney who handles Child In Need of Care cases. I spoke with a foster dad not long ago. He and his wife had a young girl and her older brother. The girl had been sexually abused by her bio dad and then maternal uncle. St. Francis Community Services subcontracts with our SRS to handle (now that I think of it - they handle all aspects. I don't know what SRS does anymore) foster care. It was determined that this little girl and her brother would be reintegrated back with their mother. The same week that she was to testify at Uncles preliminary hearing (for the indecent liberties felony allegations). It was determined that mom had enough clean UA's and she'd held onto her job at McDonald's long enough that she was deemed stable.

These workers set the bar sooooo low for those in the system. It is certainly enraging what you are going through. Does anyone care? YES. Unfortunately our nation's social system is a fortress that cannot be penetrated by people like you and I.

Hang in there. Or not. I wish I had a magic answer for you.

Hey I'm glad to hear someone out there that allows me to think it's not just me. We have a child right now that the state is pushing to send home to its Mother. I use that term loosely because she has been in and out of prison for 10 of this child's 12 years on this earth. Mom has been out of prison about 6-7 months. The cops have been to her or boyfriends house 5 times for domestic violence, battery, and drugs. The mom was accused by 3 of her other siblings that she smoked dope with her 14 yo boy in front of them. She beat her boyfriend with a baseball bat and then a day later with a chair in front of 2 of her youngest kids. All documented by the police that came. She has failed drug tests, oh she passed 2 urine tests back to back that the state worker told her was coming. Then when I pushed for a blood test she failed 4-5 days later. She has bragged to everyone involved that she can do what she wants and can pass urine tests at will. When she failed the blood test the state worker, instead of finally saying game over, just rewrote the safety plan to state that basically she can still do her drugs she just isn't to do them around this child. Oh also the state workers don't want me anywhere around the court house for fear of upsetting their banner success with this case. Oh I forgot to say all 4 of her other kids are in care also. What a life!!! They have had state workers their entire lives. I have been told by state workers that I care too much and should just let things play out, because you can't change it. So this brings me around to your comment about the system being a fortress. I believe this is true, we have seen it grinding its wheels twice now in the past year.

Thanks for the comments.
