There is something I have been wondering about. I am a recovering alcoholic. I have been sober about 20 months. Now I have my own personal things that I do such as praying to my higher power every morning that I won't drink.
I have been to AA but it really doesn't agree with me. I think if I could have a male sponser I would do better. One of the biggest things they fail to discuss is how they are doing now. What I mean is the people that have been sober 5 years, 10 years, or 20 years. They share how they did it but not how they are doing today.
What's it like being 20 years sober? Do you still want to drink everyday? Is it still an answer you briefly consider in the back of your head? Just some feedback. When you hear someone has been sober for 20 years and you've only been sober 1 week, you tend to think your some kind of loser and this person who has been sober for so long has it all together. No struggle or anything. We really need this information.
Please, anyone who has been sober 5+ years, especially into the teens and 20's please comment or email me & tell me how things are for you now. How do you feel now.
