To Be Accepted
Society does many things that I don’t understand, and probably never will. Well I understand the concept obviously but I don’t understand the point behind it. From little kids to the elderly all try to fit in, and be just the same as everyone around them. Everyone wants the people around them to think a certain way about them so they do things to make that come to action.
It’s said the first impression makes or breaks you, but I think it just gives you the biggest impression and from there on you are compared to that first impression. For example if the first night you meet a kid he seems to be going crazy and starting fights with anyone arm reach of him, it appears to you that he must always be like that or get that way when he is drunk. From there point on you picture that person as a crazy drunk, or someone that is crazy and the alcohol lets them be themselves. While this person was going wild when drunk, he didn’t mean to make an impression on you but he did. On the other hand this writing to talk about those who make impressions on people just to make people view those people a certain way.
Girls and guys will lie about blacking out and not remembering a night because they must have had “way too much to drink.” People will pretend they smoke all the time or do drugs all the time so the people around them think that is their life style. People will make up stories, manipulate things they’ve heard, and etc to also have their friends and people around them think they are a certain way. For example say there is someone that only smokes here and there but when they are around people they want to impress or put an impression on they will smoke/smoke that person up, or talk of all the times they’ve smoked.
It’s ridiculous how many things people do to try to be a shadow of the person to the right of them. Students will have their grades drop, kids will get arrested, kids will fight, and whatever else that can affect their image. Not talking about every single person of course, but talking about a majority. Why not be your own person and do what you feel like doing? I don’t really smoke weed anymore and everyone thinks that’s random and think smoking is what everyone should do. I will here and there if I feel like it, but don’t like the feeling of being high of weed anymore it got old for me. When people would say why don’t you just smoke I’d just reply why don’t you just eat a handful of pills with me? Since pills aren’t seen or used as much as weed it’s not the fad so not everyone is down for it.
Mainly girls, will say something or react in a way so they can be viewed as normal. Girls that can’t get with a guy will pretend they would never get with the person so they don’t look like they are a loser. Girls will say guys are ugly, or talk of other girls that are uglier so they can be viewed as better looking.
I don’t let people affect my decisions, I do what I think I should do. I decided to go to a private high school with no background of being in catholic schools, but did this for myself. People don’t like catholic schools because they like its strict, hard, and that you have to always wear those stupid uniforms. I was told by my mother that we would be moving to either two towns during high school, so I’d have to transfer. It would have been a choice between a what people see as a “Preppy” high school, or a “ghetto” high school. I’ve moved around many times before this anyways and was sick of transferring, so a friend of mine that told me about this school and that it was good so I
People will agree to things they don’t agree with or don’t even know about just to go along with the crowd. What’s wrong with disagreeing or talking on your own point of view? People fight for respect, and I agree with that, but people that go out of the way to start fights and pick fights with weaker people I don’t think makes them look tougher but maybe to those around them. This short writing I wrote just to put the idea out there that Fuck it, be yourself and have your own point of view. Just be yourself, live your life, try to find something that will change the world, and keep your eyes on your goal, so don’t let the people around you affect who you are, or want to be.
