 my body my choice WTF

the phrase My body My choice to support abortion is very UNsupported

I just get upset when I see that phrase used

Yes it's your body... you have control over it

Yes it's your choice... you can decide things for yourself

Your body Your choice

You Chose

You had sex

Wait... um...

isn't the goal of sex to...          get pregnant?

If you didn't want to carry a baby, you should not have had sex!

of course their are unfortunate instances where women don't give consent and are forced with a child...

But I'm upset with the Majority of abortions that happen outside of those extreme cases

Responsibility starts with conception

Well you don't always have to have sex to get pregnant. Pleasure comes to mind. More people should take the measures to prevent pregnancy by condoms and birth control. BUT, teenagers don't always do that. To me if do the deed deal with the consequences. People use abortion like it's birth control, which in my opinion is wrong. But i do believe people have the choice to decide if they want to deal with the responsibility of their actions or take the easy way out.

It pisses me off when people use abortions as a birth control. To each their own, in my opinion, if you know what I mean, but that child didn't ask you to spread your legs and I just feel like if people weren't selfish and didn't think of just themselves in life, the outcomes of things would be more positive. Personally, I just don't see how anyone could go through with it in any other instance aside from a rape, where you didn't ask to be taken advantage of.

But really I couldn't agree with you more.

well aladynamedd and Nik318 pretty much just said it all. i seriously couldnt agree with you more. they are the ones who couldnt handle the responsibility of using a condom or using the pill. they should have to pay the price for it: a baby! they shouldnt get the easy way out with abortion. it pisses me off so much! they just killed an innocent child and whats worse that that is it was their own child, their own flesh and blood. i wonder how they feel when they realize all of that??

I'm so so pro life except for rape and incest and never should aboetion be used as a form of birth control but unfortunatly that's ecactly why it's used so much. We will all have to answer for our actions one day and I don't mean in a court of law either.

but what about all those little slip ups when the condom breaks or the pill just doesnt work one day - because it does happen. you cant completly condemn abortion except in extreme cases because accidents are gona happen and yeah anyone who uses abortion as a method of contraception are complete idiots and probably just need someone to direct their way into less drastic preventions.

but i can see where your coming from, dont get me wrong.but your forgetting that not everyone are complete idiots and that abortion is a difficult choice to make for any woman or couple. i havent had an abortion but i have friends who have children and im glad i dont have any or ever needed an abortion because i dont ever want to risk making such a mistake as getting pregnant. in 10 years maybe but im not gona be a teenage mum.

I agree that abortion should not be used as a form of birth control and that there needs to be more care put into decisions of a sexual nature.

There are, believe it or not extenuating circumstances...

My mother worked as a counsellor in a home for battered women and children...one of her clients was raped and impregnated by her drunk/stoned father for the 2nd time...sorry, not her choice to get pregnant in this manner but it should be her choice for an abortion.

just my 2 cents.

If you choose to have sex without protection and you wound up pregnant, it's your fault, but MOSTLY your choice. And even if you do want an abortion, that's your choice, still....

Also to those who were violated and pregnant, I weep for them and whatever choice they make is their own choice.

Plus some women going want to have a baby, like those out of control teens on talk shows, without thinking about the consequences: STDs, health risks and cash, but most of all their time as a young teen girl.

My first comment...
1. You all keep saying abortion is wrong unless you were 'violated' or 'raped'. I guess I think it's a little funny you all seem to think killing a 'unborn child' is wrong, unless you were raped. hmm. isn't murder wrong no matter what?

2. I am very pro choice. Bringing a child into this world you don't intend on taking care of is an awful and mean deed. There are plenty of children who need a loving home. Let's not add to the number. Things happen... People get pregnant and they can't take care of a baby. You are the only person who knows whats right for you. It is something you have to decide on.

I think that there must be a line with the abortion subject. Obviously women should not use it as a form of birth control, that is not the question, but there are times when it is inapropriate to bring the child into the world. There are the obvious ones that have been raised already so I wont bother with those, but honestly, my boyfriend had a baby when he was barely 15. He was not in any place to raise a child, and neither was the mother. There are situations where it is irresponsible to follow through with the pregnancy, and I think that the possibility for correcting some mistakes, and/or horrible circumstances that occur.

95% of women who have an abortion are simply using it as birth control. 2% is rape and incest, 1% is for the mother's health and 3% are because of fetal abnormalities. Only 20% of women who have abortions are using some other form of birth control. 48% of abortions are performed on women who will have four or more.

where did you get those statistics from?

They're fabricated of course. I can't speak for America (this is an Austrailian study), but if anyone's interested in some real facts, try this:

"The World Health Organisation states that even if couples use contraception correctly 100 per cent of the time, there would be six million unplanned pregnancies each year.

Cait Calcutt, coordinator of Queensland-based unplanned pregnancy counselling service, said the research showed women were not using abortion as a form of contraception, as many people believed.

"When unplanned pregnancy does occur it is vital that women have access to the support necessary for them to make a real choice - everything from paid maternity leave to safe and legal abortion services," Ms Calcutt said."

http://skemono.blogspot.com/2008/01/honestly-how-do es-abortion-as-birth.html

And courtesy of http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/fb_induced_abortion.html I found the following:

Fifty-four percent of women [not twenty percent as the above poster erroneously claimed] who have abortions had used a contraceptive method (usually the condom or the pill) during the month they became pregnant. Among those women, 76% of pill users and 49% of condom users report having used their method inconsistently, while 13% of pill users and 14% of condom users report correct use.[9]

Each year, about two percent of women aged 15-44 have an abortion; 47% of them have had at least one previous abortion [not four or more].[3]

Please try and get your facts right.

Wow I am impressed that females are fighting back against the terror tactics of planned parenthood and the like that equate abortion as impowerment of woman. The unborn child in a mother womb only have the wrath of God to protect him or her. Birth control is only a crutch for immoral acts. In Japan where there is no abortions and few single family households, there is any effort by the government for married couples to start having childern at a younger age. Think about the society problems if the cause of abortions was eliminated. That irresponsible sexual activity.
