I was thinking about something like this although I believe in God.You never know what is after life. So my answer is there is a god but he works in strange ways.

I one of my writings, from years ago, I wrote...

"Of heaven and hell I ahve been taught since birth, But I have my own belief and that is hell is here on earth..."

I believed it at the time, but not sure I can say the same now....

there is no god.
there is no reason for god except to make people feel like they have purpose and meaning. without faith and religion; everyone would feel useless and their lives absolutely meaningless.
there are plenty of explanations for how we got here without god. why we got here is still a question...
but if you need an answer; then believe in god.
if you can live with the fact that there just isnt a reason; we just got lucky... well then welcome to the real world baby.

although I openly admit I have no explanation for the existence of a God, I believe that's not possible to answer, regardless. But a God is the best explanation for what we see around us t'day, I feel. Otherwise, it requires a violation of many of the proven laws of thermodynamics. Ask yourself - is Charles Shultz the God of the Peanuts? He created them, controls their lives, and none of them can see him or prove his existence. But does he nonetheless exist, and is he not the creator of their entire universe? Does he not know every hair on each of their heads? Can he not, with the sweep of his mighty hand, destroy them all? Or give them everlasting life?

natacsifan... According to Romeo, Moonlight and nsem there are other explainations... I think if we fail to have an open mind we become blind to all the possibilites. I understand that to some this means I am blind due to my lack in the belief of a God...

I fail to believe that if there is a God, he is not compasionate enough to leave the pain and misery out of life....

There is a God. I believe that He is real. I know He is in my life. Although I can not see Him or hear Him audibly, I hear Him when He speaks to my spirit. He gives me peace and comfort when I can find none through humans, He puts my feet on solid ground when I see everything around me falling to pieces. He is the sole reason I was put on this earth. To praise Him and to adore Him and to try to be a light unto Him so that others can know, that there is a God.

Great survey.

Phat... Phat head! You stated: "The Bible is toatally (sic) fiction ..... too many holes to be real". I'm calling you out, sir! I'm challenging you to prove that every person mentioned, every place mentioned, every event mentioned in the Bible is false. Otherwise, we can safely label you a LIAR!!!

E my only answer to this question deals with an innate belief that has guided us over the years, and as we evolve and build upon our understanding I believe one day we will come to know God as God wants us to know him.

So I would say that there is a God even though many will argue that God has been born out of ignorance and fear, but that does not explain why the presence of God is still in our society. Unless we still live in ignorance and fear.

So maybe it really is ignorance and fear that keep us from truly understanding God, which blocks us from knowing God.

This much I now know, which is I have come full circle in my understanding of myself as being ignorant and fearful, so now I can work on knowing God for ignorance and fear no longer fill me with superstitious belief.

Now as for the afterlife it would follow that we will not know about this detail without first knowing what is God.

It would seem that your course in life has followed mine as I once believed that earth was indeed Hell. I have move to the realization that nothing is as it seems but as we think it is, so are we living a life of hell, or is heaven of earth a reality in the making. Jesus did say that the Kingdom of God is within, so that is where I started my search my friend.

Good luck with your search E.

BigD- Mine is more of a huge doubt. I have atough time with having faith in anything. I must see it, touch it, feel it. This is what it takes for me to see something as real, to believe. In this I stuggle. But as I said in my Letter to the Editor, I do not want to die and find myself standing in front of the gates saying, "Damn! I was wrong all along!"

Peace,

Junk Drawer Wars

It opens to chaos
and while searching
some will shift
while others straighten,
exchanging effort
for order.

Entropic,
we are bound
to the path
of least resistance.

Systemic application
of energy
differentiates enthalpy
from the other%u2014

as if even Einstein
would say
that faith
without works
is dead.

I think it's God that keeps our universe in order. Maybe not great order, because chaos is part of the plan too. Think fractals.
